Hi folks! Are you having fun with this week’s challenge – gifts??? I’ve made a box in the shape of a Book which will carry a little gift for a friend and can be used for storage later on.
I’ve made a quick tutorial if you want to try it out yourself. It’s easy and done in an hour or two. To get the page look, you need four pieces of paper – 2 pieces 4 x 6 and 2 pieces 5 x 6. I use watercolor paper cause it’s a little vintage looking and really sturdy. But it works fine with ordinary cardstock. Then you need to score the long sides on all four papers every 1/2 inch. To get perfect foldsI started to score on one side at 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 inch, then flipped it over and scored 1/2, 1 1/2, 2 1 1/2, 3 1/2, 4 1/2 and 5 1/2 inch.
Then you fold all the scored lines like an accordion and if you want a vintage look, chalk the edges.
Now it’s time to assemble the book looking frame. Adhere the corners by weaving the folds together and use glue on the top and bottom to make it stick. I didn’t get a very good photo of it (sorry), but I think you get it!
I use clothes pins until the glue dries.

The cover is made out of cardstock and measures 9 1/2 x 5 1/4. Score at 4 1/4 and 5 1/4.

And now you have the essentials. To close the book I adhere a bow beneath the front and back cover and tie it together, but you could also use magnets or other stuff. Here is the front and inside of my book box card:

The stamps used are: Vintage Treasures, Steampunk Charity Wings, Be Stylish (Corset) and Card Lables.
You find all the info about this week’s gift challenge HERE! Have fun!
