Mother's Day is May 8th!!!

Are you ready?

The Rubber Cafe wants to help jump start your mojo so this weeks our challenge to you is to make a card for your

Mom or a Special Lady in your life.

For my card I decided to make a Thank You card for my son's awesome band director, Ms. Blake!

Over the years we have known many band directors and many of them are full of ego and very competitive.

What I love about Ms. Blake is that teaching isn't about her...it's about the kids!
She has super fabulous, top rated Marching Bands, Concert Bands, and Jazz Bands but that isn't what she is working towards.  She truly is working to educate them and to instill a life long love of music in these kids!

WOW...what a concept..huh?  The kids work hard because they don't want to let her down or let each other down and because she has taught them to do their personal best at what ever level they play.

For this card I stamped the music notes and sentiment in versamark ink and then embossed with Midnight Black embossing Powder.  Then I covered the entire surface with Versamark and embossed with the Kaleidoscope embossing powder.  It doesn't show well in the picture but it's really sparkly!

Stamps:
Paper:
Recollections Black Cardstock from Michael's
Ink:
Versamark by Tsukineko
Other:

What special lady will you be making a card for this week?

The Rules are Simple:
•Make a new card incorporating this weeks challenge (you are welcome to combine with other challenges and you do not have to use TRC stamps but if you do you'll be entered twice for the random prize draw)
• to link your card below with Mr. Linky •Mention our challenge, on your post (with a link back here)
*If you post in a public gallery use key word TRCC13
*NOTE: Please enter only one card each week! Each week we will randomly draw a winner out of the projects that are entered and the winner will win a prize.

This weeks prize is a $10 gift certificate to the Rubber Cafe store.

Good Luck!!!

Dots Dots Everywhere

What a great challenge this week. We've had so many wonderful responses to the polka dot challenge...Thanks Kristine.

I've been having fun playing with a new product this week called "Candies" and I thought they fit right in with the challenge. I used them at the base of the card and dropped a few around the corset from Be Stylish. This has quickly become one of my favorite stamps. I really enjoy, not just stamping it, but really getting creative with each corset I make. I used swiss dots embossing folder on my acetate and stamped the sentiment so that it shows through the acetate. I used one of the background stamps from the Vintage set and stamped it on the teal green cardstock. The brown cardstock is scored using the scor-pal and the scor-bug and then brushed over with teal chalk ink. She's tied up in a bow and I used the same ribbon to finish the top of the card. It's a little hard to tell...and taking a picture of any glittered item really takes talent...but I've glittered her up with Your So Fine Glitter and colored over the glitter with a light blue Promarker. If you haven't seen the Promarkers yet...you should really check them out. They're less expensive then copics and I think they're much easier to control the ink. They are alcohol based and have a bullet tip instead of a brush tip. They also have a cool chisel tip as well. They have quickly become one of my favorite go to pens for coloring.

Now...for this weeks winner.

Our winner this week is Paul.

Congratulations Paul. To collect your prize from The Rubber Cafe, Just email me your contact information at smiles4126@aol.com and I'll get that right out to you

Polka dots and Butterflies

This weeks challenge is using Polka dots on our project.
Today I used the Background Basics 2 stamp (this is the one Kristine thought she had but either lost or didn't actually own LOL) and a cuttlebug folder to acheieve the dots.  I also used the butterfly from the Vintage Treasures set as an accent and the sentiment Happy Birthday from the Hey Cupcake set.
I hadn't even seen Michelles post using the same butterfly but apparently great minds think alike. :)

I inked the embossed dots on the brown paper to give them some definition and tore/distressed the edge of the paper that I had stamped with the background basics 2.  I popped up the butterfly with a foam dot and folded it to give it more dimention.

Vintage Treasure

This week's challenge is Polka Dots! I had this Vintage Treasures set on my mind....so my polka dots are very muted.

The background paper has sublte polka dots and the butterfly is stamped on some polka dot designer paper. I echoed the polka dot theme with the embellishments in the center of my ribbon roses.

Did you see that Melissa just posted a fun video showing some great uses for the Scrap Happy Sheer Glue. I'm definately going to have to give some of them a try!

Wow...have you been keeping up with the blog this week? It's been a great week here for blog posts. I really love how inovative Sabria was...and her poor husband. Did you check us out on Wednesday? Melissa did an awsome video on our Scraphappy glue and Stick 'em up. If you haven't seen it...check it out. And...we can't forget about our Thursday challenges. I would like to say Thanks to Kristine for setting up so many great challenges. You've done a wonderful job. We've had a lot of fabulous entries over these last few weeks. Oh Behave...

I've been a naughty girl....I went to the dollar store and bought a pair of panties.  I told my husband that we're going to go home now and cut these up  ;) ....boy was he disappointed when I dug out my stamps and scrapbookinng supplies.  HA HA HA

Heres my card for this weeks challenge, we had to use fabric on our projects.

I stamped the Be Stylish (Corset) stamp on said pair of panties and then cut them out to be attached to my card.
I don't sew so had no fabric around the house hence why I bought undies to cut up instead
(the fabric stores were closed by the time I was done work)

Be sure to follow along and join in the weekly challenges theres great prizes to be had.

Inked Poppy

I'm LOVING this Inked Poppy image from The Rubber Cafe! This week the challenge is to use fabric on our cards.

I have had this adhesive fabric ribbon from Making Memories in my stash for a few years now. I love the color combination....and I finally decided it was time to stop hoarding it and use it! I colored my image with the Copics shown below.

I raided my paper scrap bin and came up with this perfectly matching designer paper from KI Memories. A touch of doodling and a simple white ribbon finishes my card.

Please join us for the challenge....one lucky winner will be receiving a Gift Certificate to The Rubber Cafe!! It just might be your lucky week! Michelle Pearson - Inspiration Blooms

Springtime!

This week's challenge at The Rubber Cafe is Easter/Spring. I chose to go with spring!! We pulled the bikes out of storage and have our first 10 miles in for the season! Too bad the sun didn't shine and it didn't get quite as warm as they said it would...maybe next weekend! I chose the beautiful Iris image. I have to say that I never can wait until mine start to bloom! They are peeking out of the ground....so where there is life, there is hope! I colored my image with Copic Markers and used Spellbinders oval dies to frame it. I used the Copic Airbrush to shade my sky. Springtime is one of the four season sentiments. For the background I stamped the Iris image repeatedly in a coodinating ink for some subtle detail. I used a Spellbinders border die and a few gems to finish my card. We hope you can play along....show us your spring cards! See the challenge details here....there is a $10 gift certificate on the line for a lucky participant. Then you can go get your Iris image!

Happy Birthday

Have you been participating or following our weekly challenges??  Well here's my take on this weeks challenge, "Flowers" ok actually it's "Spring Flowers" but I miss read it when I wrote it down in my day planner so mine is just about a flower.... LOL

I wanted to do something with these plain white paper flowers that I had so I took the Medium Swirled Butterfly and stamped it over the flower in a brown Momento ink,
I'm really happy with how it turned out.
I then embossed the sentiment Happy Birthday from the Hey Cupcake set with a cream embossing powder.

Hope to see your "Spring Flower" projects, don't forget if you participate you enter in a chance to win some free swag WOOHOO.

Spring flowers

Hi all! Hope you are enjoying spring! I’m still waiting, but I know it’s around the corner somewhere cause the snow that fell yesterday didn’t stay! : ) : ) : )

I have a springy floral card today with beautiful Hand-Picked Floral stamp.

Although...

The sentiment is from the Give Momma Some Love set. So, this is my take on this week’s challenge: Spring Flowers. Hope you want to play, there are still a couple of days! All info about the challenge can be found HERE.

Have a lovely new week, and thanks for stopping by!

Floral Birthday!

Ooh, I love this week's challenge.....it's floral and right up my alley! I chose to do the Lace Flower image...it always intrigues me. This time instead of glittering it, I used my Copic Markers to coordinate the colors with my Basic Grey desinger paper. I fussy cut my image and mounted it with a combination of glue dots and foam tape for dimension. I used some scraps from the same collection to frame my image. I'm loving this vertical birthday sentiment....it fits perfectly on so many of my cards! We hope you join us for the fun.....there is a lucky winner each week...and who doesn't enjoy a free bit o'rubber?! Good Luck! Michelle Pearson http://www.inspirationblooms.blogspot.com/

Spring Flowers!!!

Hi All!! Great challenge this week here at The Rubber Cafe. Spring Flowers!!! And whats a better flower to work with than a big daisy!!! Which is the stamp I used today, Extra Large Daisy. I decided that I wanted this to be a set of cards so I went very simple and wet embossed the daisy with versamark ink and clear embossing powder so the yellow really popped!! I added a few pearls for alittle something extra and mounted the daisy onto white cardstock. Then I made six of these for the set of cards to give to a friend. Hope she likes them.

Thanks so much for stopping in today. Cant wait to see what you create!!!
