Flower Pot Gift card

Happy Saturday Everyone!

If you tuned in here yesterday you read the post announcing the members of our Design Team as we go into our 2nd term for 2012.

So it's with great pleasure today that I start it off with one of  my favorite projects and gift ideas. Although I've made this many times before, this is my first time using Rubber Cafe product, so it was really fun using this flower pot template with our new Rose Garden Stamp set

I just love this card, as it also makes a great way to share a gift card.

The clay pot forms a pocket for your card, just lift your rose bouquet to reveal your sentiment or gift card.  I used Coordinations cardstock for my flower pot, embossed it with a texture plate, and sanded the surface revealing the pattern and the color core inside.

Here's a closeup of the card all the way out of the flower pot.  I've stamped the phrase that comes with the Rose Garden set- or you could attach a gift card.

To create my flowers I stamped the smallest rose from the Rose Garden on 3 differnt patterned papers from Basic grey.  I than created a rolled rose for the centers out of the same patterend paper- giving it more dimension and pop!  I distressed the edges on both flowers and the leaves, which also comes in the Rose Garden set.  I added some misc buttons for fun.  I attached a tag I had with a pin, that has a leather like look and feel, and stamped my sentiment 'Get Well' which came from the Fabulous Phrases set, directly on that. The tag was than hung inside a metal frame I had, that made me think of garden stake embellishment.

I wrapped the bottom of a heart doily to the edge of my flower pot, and added a vintage button.
For my sign, I added this cute bronze butterfly.

To create my flower pot - I cut a piece of cardstock 4 1/4 by 11. I made my first fold to where I wanted the depth of my flower pot to be, and that left about 1 1/2" which I folderd the opposite way to form the edge or lip of the flower pot.

Next using my trimmer, I cut the sides at an angle starting from the bottom, about 1 /2" in and angled to the top corner just under the fold of the lip. Repeat this for the second side.

By wrapping ribbon around the top you don't have to put in any adhesive to keep your pocket closed. This works great, as adhesive can tend to get in the way of your card inside keeping it from moving freely.

For the inside tag, I cut a piece approximately 3" x 4- 4 1/2" high. I gauged it so it would just extend so when inserted just my flowers can be seen.

That's it for me- be sure to stay tuned as the rest of the team continues to share their creations and inspirations. I know you won't be disappointed!
