Home is Where Your Cat Sleeps

Happy Weekend!!  - Whew what a week ...  work has been hectic, as we push forward to our deadline.  And so I find myself looking forward more and more to the weekends and a chance to decompress.

For my project today, I pulled out this fun wood birdcage that I've been just waiting for the right inspiration for and today it came to me.  In the end it took on an even more special meaning for me, which I'll explain.

First here's my project! I am using the Window Garden stampset featuring the window frame and flower box- which has some fun paper pre-made flowers.

The bird in the cage is a balsa wood ornament that I just inked with Versa Mark and embossed with the Shabby White embossing powder - Wow that was fun!  I've had this for awhile but this is the first time I've used it so I didn't realize it would have so much 'glimmer' to it while still having a shabby chic edge to it too!

The Window and window box are stamped with Whisper White Craft ink on Kraft cardstock, that I then cut out so my birdcage would show through. The roses were premade, and I inked with Ranger Distress 'Old Paper' ink.   I added a tag and some pink ribbon and twine that also has a little bit of gold thread through it.

Today I brought home a new addition to my very small family - a new little calico kitten.  A woman at work brought in a litter of kittens and there she was!  She's somewhere around 6 weeks old, and such a pretty little girl.  If could get her to stay still while I have my camera - I'd share a picture of her with you but she's not having any of that! Right now she's sitting on my shoulder while I am sitting here typing my post!  Too cute!  I'm sure she's missing her litter mates, so for now I'm the next best thing.  Earlier as I finished up my project this little darling was taking a little 'cat' nap on my work table so I just had to add this sweet sleeping cat from the 'Home is Where your Cat Sleeps' set to my birdcage.  I colored her with my Ranger Distress Markers, using the white to give some highlights.

So there it is - straight from the heart! I just love how it turned out and I hope you do too!!

I have a quick update- I was finally able to get Her Highness- aka "the whirling dirvish" to stop long enough to ge a couple of pictures, and this was the best of the bunch!

Still haven't come up with a name yet, so open to any suggestions!
