A Hope You Can Cling To Challenge Card

The Rubber Cafe is honored to be a sponsor for the 3rd Annual "Hope You Can Cling To" campaign at SplitCoastStampers.
This challenge event runs the entire month of October and is designed to benefit The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and those affected by breast cancer.   Go here for the rest of the details!

Now here's Debbie's project for today using one of the one of the challenges for the 'Hope You Can Cling To' event.

**************************************************************************
Hello!  Hope you are having a great week!  As I was getting ready to make my project for today's post, I was kinda drawing a blank on what I should make.  So I checked out the challenges for the Hope You Can Cling To 2012 forum on Splitcoaststampers and found a challenge that was just right for a project!  I picked the Stand Like a Flamingo Challenge.   What this challenge means for me was to only use one of each supply on my project - one stamp, one sheet of patterned paper, one sheet of colored cardstock, etc..... This was really kinda hard actually but I think I pulled it off!

For the base of my card and for the sentiment panel, I used some ivory cardstock that cut for an A-2 card.  I cut/embossed a piece of patterned paper using the A-2 Matting Basics A set.   Then I got out some of my favorite The Rubber Cafe' supplies to brighten up my card! Scrap Happy Sheer Glue and Your So Fine Silver Medal Glitter!!

First I spread a piece of waxed paper on my work table.  Then I squirted a bit of the Scrap Happy Sheer Glue on the waxed paper.  Using a paint brush, I painted the glue all around the edges of the patterned paper and sprinkled the Silver Medal glitter on the glue.

I used the same technique to paint some Scrap Happy Sheer glue onto the snowflake die cut.  I sprinkled on the glitter and then put the excess back into the tub using the waxed paper!

I stamped the Merry Christmas (elegant) sentiment  onto a piece of ivory cardstock using black ink.  Then I put everything together using more Scrap Happy Sheer Glue.  It dries to tacky pretty fast so you can work with it.  Then when I had everything just how I wanted it, I set my card aside to finish drying!

So I think I was successful at the challenge.  Don't tell anyone but I used 2 dies from the A-2 Card Creator Basics A set but I had to have something to put my sentiment on and it fit perfectly on that strip!  LOL  Hope you will join us and participate in the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges this month!  You could win big!!
