Money Holder Cards for Halloween

Hi! Happy Halloween!
My son was invited to a Halloween themed birthday party last weekend. Two girls in his class are turning 12 this week, and he wanted to give them money. No book, no toy, no gift card. Well, after some arguing, I gave in. Sigh. :) And started making them cards to hold the money.

Money holder card 1
It ended up being some sort of wallet card with a holder inside closed with a decorated band using the ├╝ber cool pumpkin from the Pumpkin Face Mix-N-Match set. I stamped and heat embossed the pumpkin and face and colored it with distress inks.

The inside:

The writing area is decorated with a spider wed and ghost from the Trick or Treat set.

The girls were happy with both cards and money so everything ended well. :)
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your week!

Today I created a project using the 'Ta Ta Toe' challenge!  Funny title for a challenge, don't you think?  I sure thought so but when I checked out the challenge I was so inspired.  For this challenge, you are to use the Tic Tac Toe board provided showing the different items you can use.  Just like in the regular Tic Tac Toe game, you need three boxes/items to make your card.  You can see the Tic Tac Toe board and more about this challenge HERE at Splitcoaststampers.

I decided to go diagonally on the Tic Tac Toe board, so I chose - Patterned Paper, Ribbon and Distressing. For the patterned paper portion of my card, I decided to stamp my own using It's A Blizzard Outside stamp.  I stamped white cardstock with Versamark and then applied some heat 'n stick powder.  Once that is heat set, I then applied Blue Skies You're So Fine Glitter.  After heat setting again, I made my card.

I used some kraft cardstock for the base of this 5 1/4 x 5 1/4" card.  As you can see, I distressed the light blue cardstock using a distressing tool.  I cut my square of "patterned paper" and lightly sponged some Weathered Wood distress ink around the outside edges.

The snowflake for this card is made using the Create -A-Flake Four from Spellbinders Paper Arts.  There is kind of a trick to putting this snowflake together so here are some handy pictures to help you out!

You will need all the little pieces from the die to assemble this snowflake.  I assembled mine on a Labels Four die cut using Scrap Happy Sheer Glue.  Here is what it looks like.

Then I added another snowflake cut/embossed from the light blue cardstock.  Plus I layered on another snowflake from the set.  For the sentiment, I stamped the Merry Christmas (elegant) stamp onto white cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink pad. Using the A-2 Matting Basics A, I positioned the die into place with some temporary tape and cut/embossed.

I positioned the sentiment onto the snowflake and finished the card by adding some white ribbon.

There are just a couple more days to participate in the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges.  Be sure to check them out, you could win some really great prizes.'

Thanks!

Fall Wreathe by Guest Designer Dawn Lotharius

Today Dawn Lotharius leaves us with one final project. We've so enjoyed having her with us as our Guest Designer this month and I'm sure you've enjoyed her projects as much as we have!

Thanks again Dawn for being a part of our Rubber Cafe' family and sharing a bit of yourself as well!

Now here's Dawn!!

********************************************************************
I am so excited to be here sharing  another project for The Rubber Cafe today!  I love the stamps and products I chose to share today, they are the Leaf Set 1, and Indian Corn.    Enjoy!

Aren't these the perfect stamps for paper piecing??? I know I had so much fun making this wreath.

Before stamping  the leaves and Indian Corn many times on watercolor paper...I used Color Gelatos in several colors all over the paper and used a Deluxe Water Brush to swirl and spread the color.

Then all I had to do was stamp and fussy cut them out.

Can you see the glitter that was sprinkled in various areas...I actually sprinkled over the areas where I glued the leaves You're So Fine Glitter - Copper

I like to put almost all my glitters in salt and pepper shakers that make them pretty to put out to view and also easier to use for me.

And here's another look at the final project!
I used a 7" grapevine wreath, and added ribbon to embellish it.

Thank you so much for allowing me to be a guest this month...I have enjoyed all the products I chose and I know I will be using them again and again.

Smile Pink Card by Jen Matott

The Rubber Cafe is honored to be a sponsor for the 3rd Annual "Hope You Can Cling To" campaign at SplitCoastStampers.
This challenge event runs the entire month of October and is designed to benefit The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and those affected by breast cancer. Go here for the rest of the details!

I have a card that I created for this event!  I wanted to make a card with pink as this is Breast cancer awareness month. My Mother-in-Law and Aunt are both 10+ Breast Cancer survivors!  I remember the difficult time they both had and some days were harder to get through.  I wanted this card to remind someone that they can be strong and smile through the pain.  I recently lost a classmate to Breast Cancer at 38 years old!  It was a very sad reminder that life is precious!  She was my age and a mom... just unreal to me!  So if you are smiling down on us, Jen Saccone... this one is for you!

I used the 18th Century Proclamation stamp with a pink Stamper's Big Brush Pen by Faber-Castell DMC. I cut it into a ribbon shape.

The sentiment from Fabulous Phrases was first stamped with a Pink Madder Faber-Castell Stamper's Big Brush Pen and then again with  Magenta Faber-Castell Stamper's Big Brush pen for a shadow effect.  Finally, I stamped the circle label from the Card Labels set with Cold Grey.  I cut it out and popped it up.  Jellies were added to create drama!

I added washi tape ribbons and banner pieces cut from patterned paper and some stickers to unify the design.  I also added some twine too.  This card is a pretty reminder to "smile" and remain positive!

Be sure to check out the rest of the Challenges going on at Splitcoaststampers for the Hope You Can Cling To event.  Your cards will be a reason to smile!
