Mixed Media Card Keeper

April is National Recycling Month, so in honor of that,
thought I'd share an "upcycled" mixed media card keeper
project made using stamps from The Rubber Cafe':

And wouldn't you know...I did forget to take a "before" pic....lol,
but here is a pic of the inside....I left it as is....it was a simple box
that held some scrappy supplies:

To start, the box was painted with gesso, then covered with
paper (BoBunny Gabrielle) then painted over in several shades
of Adirondack paint dauber.  After that dried, then out came
The Rubber Cafe' Vintage Treasures set....I stamped the clock
face in the bottom right corner, the ledgers on the left, and the
small "V" piece of  paper at the top was stamped with the ad
stamp from that set as well, all in Cocoa Brown Memento Ink.

After attaching the letter stickers where I wanted them....the
entire box got a coat of mod podge, then brown paint on the
corners.  While that all dried....it was on to the embellishments.

The chipboard hexagons were painted with gesso and the
paint daubers, then stamped with brown paint,
using The Rubber Cafe' Vintage Treasures set stamps:

Don't be afraid to use your stamps with acrylic paint....
it's a fun way to use them, and the rubber gives a great
impression as you can see, but do wash them with cool
water right after and let them air dry completely.

Next up, the canvas butterfly was done using a technique
I showed on a previous post, you can find it HERE.  Using
using gelatos and water to paint the canvas, then once it was
getting dry, I stamped the butterfly from the Vintage Treasures
set in Memento Brown Cocoa Ink.  I cut it out, then frayed the
edges a bit, added Jellie Dots to it, then attached the butterfly,
bling, and hexagons to the box with Scrap Happy Glue.

Here is a close up of a couple of the hexagons:

And the details by the butterfly:

What can you find in your stash to take from trash to treasure?
Use your stamps, and upcycle your way to a crafty work of art!
