It's Movie Night!

Found treasures are a great blank canvas for using your stamps.  I am always on the lookout for fun items to alter, and one of my recent finds, a little wooden crate, was inspiration for this Movie Night gift set using fun stamps from The Rubber Cafe':

It all started with this simple little wooden crate:

And after a coat of white gesso, and a coat of yellow paint, I stamped The Rubber Cafe' Wood Grain stamp in Versamark ink, embossed it in red, and the result was this cool texture added to the crate:

The goodies that I used to fill the basket, are a DVD, some microwave popcorn and a movie gift card....I used The Rubber Cafe' Popcorn stamp and Tickets stamps to decorate them up, of course:

I stamped the Popcorn stamp in Memento Black Tuxedo ink, colored it in with Copic Markers, then fussy cut it out before I matted it on Pugnacious White and then red cardstock, and added a touch of twine:

For the gift card holder....I cut a simple rectangle, and added a pocket jazzed up with the star sprinkle stamp from TRC Hey Cupcake! set, and TRC Tickets stamp, which I embossed in black, colored with Copics and fussy cut.  I used foam tape to attach it to the Spellbinders Classic Circles "frame":

To add some fun to the crate, I used the same Popcorn and Tickets stamps, colored and cut out, but I left the popcorn around the box, and used The Rubber Cafe' Puffies paint to add a "real popcorn" texture and used a bit of yellow paint to add a little "butter"....a good tip here.....I'm a little bit of a klutz with a brush on the fine details, so I used a small folded piece of cardstock....and just wet the corner at the fold with a bit of the paint and dabbed it on exactly where I wanted it....worked like a charm!  Glossy Accents was added to the red stripes on the popcorn box, and then I used the larger circles from the Spellbinders Classic Circles set to create a frame for these pieces:

Now what is a project without a little "bling"?  So I used plain chipboard letters, and the ever magical Rubber Cafe' Scrap Happy Glue and You're So Fine Glitter....so simple to dab the glue on the letters,
let the glue get a bit tacky, then buff on the gorgeous Patriot Red Glitter like you see in this picture here:

So there you have it, a fun, simple gift to give a friend, a grad, a college bound student, anyone you'd like to give a thoughtful handmade gift:

Now it's your turn....time to get inspired, ink up those stamps, and check those gifts off of your "to-do" list!
