Just Beachy

Hi Everyone!
Vacation photos are fun to scrapbook, but I also enjoy making home decor pieces to display our family photos, like this wall hanging made using The Rubber Cafe' stamps.

To make the background, I started with plain blue scrapbook paper, then stamped the cute bubble stamp from The Rubber Cafe' Sea Life stamp set in Versamark, and embossed with blue glitter embossing powder, then distressed the edges with ink as seen here:

Next I stamped The Rubber Cafe' Wood Grain stamp in soft blue gray and then distressed around the edges with a distressing tool and more brown ink.  These pieces were adhered to the wooden planks.

Next I focused on the letters.....starting with plain chipboard alphas

That I painted brown...

After these were dry, I stamped in white ink using my Rubber Cafe' Wood Grain stamp....

here is a close up of the finished background and letters.....

I also used the starfish and sand dollar stamps from the Sea Life Set.  The sand dollar is embossed with brown embossing powder, then colored in with markers, and shaded with distress ink.

The starfish was stamped with Scrap Happy Glue and when it dried a bit, I buffed on The Rubber Cafe' You're So Fine Glitter in the bronze color.  To pull it all together I attached a bit of burlap and twine, and then the letters and stamped pieces with foam tape, finishing it off with Root Beer Jellie Dots.

The second plaque, was very similar, but I used The Rubber Cafe' Seasons set sentiment and the Wood Grain stamp for the little "Summer Sun" banner.

The circle under the letter "B" is from The Rubber Cafe' Card Labels set, and is embossed and then stamped over with the Wood Grain stamp.

Here is a close up!

Remember to have a little fun with your stamps.....use them for more than just cards and scrapbooks!

Thanks for stopping by the Cafe' today!
