                               ****************************

Hi Friends!  Kendra here today to share one more card using the fabulous new Creative Cafe Kit for October called Fall Harvest.  For my card today, I used the stamp set that comes with the kit called Harvest Time, as well as the add-on set called Fall Traditions to make my own background paper with the fabulous words and phrases that are in both sets.

When making background paper, it's important to stamp the largest words first and then fill in the spaces with the smaller words.  I also changed directions and alternated the block words with non-block words so it is pleasing to the eye.  Once I stamped all of the words (sometimes multiple times), I added a few of the small leaf & acorn images in the blank spots.

I added a square of the burlap fabric included in the kit and removed a few strings from each side for the frayed look.  For the main image on the card, I used the acorn wreath and stamp it in Memento Rich Cocoa Ink and then stamped the dotted wreath over the top with Memento Rhubarb Stalk Ink to tie in the color of the background paper.

For the finishing touches on my card, I added some pretty burgundy seam binding ribbon and a big bow.  Then I colored the wooden banner with the Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink and stamped the sentiment in Memento Rich Cocoa.

Window Wreath Card

Dawn Rene with you today to share a card made with The Rubber Cafe's October Creative Kit of the Month - Fall Harvest. The focal point of this card is the adorable wreath stamp. I stamped the wreath image on the inside and made a window in the front of the card to see it! All the shapes on the card are hand cut or made with old fashion decorative scissors.

I documented some of the steps I took in making it below to share with you!
TRC Oct Kit Wreath Card wm
The card base is cream cardstock and the finished dimensions are 4.25" x 5.5".
The papers layered on top include:
1) Autumn Song - Beautiful (Purple Side): 4" x 5.25"
2). Autumn Song: 3.5" x5.25"
    TRC Oct Kit Wreath Card 2
Next I cut a 2.5" hole in the front of the card. The hole looks off center in this picture. I am not sure why - it really isn't that off center! I think it is because I decided to take all of the pictures at an angle. For some reason on this particular day I wasn't feeling symmetrical or straight! I used a compass to draw the circle.
TRC Oct Kit Wreath Card 3
I also used the compass to draw the "wreath" out of the BoBunny Autumn Song Leaves paper (cream  side with the small grid). I used old fashion decorative scissors to cut the scallop around the outer edge of the circle.
TRC Oct Kit Wreath Card 4
I stamped the word "leaves" and a little leaf image around the circle and attached it to the front of the card with Kool Tak Foam to give it some dimension.

TRC Oct Kit Wreath Card 5
I stamped the leave wreath image on cream card stock and added just a little bit of color with Copic markers.
TRC Oct Kit Wreath Card 6
I cut out the wreath and framed it with the BoBunny papers. The image was layered on top of decorative shapes cut out from the BoBunny Autumn Song Duet paper. I finished the inside of the card by stamping "Happy Thanksgiving" underneath the wreath.
TRC Oct Kit Wreath Card 7
On the front of the card I added a wooden button colored to match the papers and a bow made from ribbon in the kit.
 TRC Oct Kit Wreath Card 8
I stamped the word "thankful" on the wooden label and distressed it a little with brown ink. The wooden label was layered on top of a small piece of burlap and a hand cut piece of the Autumn Song Twilight paper.

This was attached to the front of the card underneath the ribbon bow to complete the card.

Thankful-Creative Cafe' Kit of the Month

Kristine here with my final card from this months Creative Cafe Kit of the Month.  This card was made completely with supplies that come in the kit!

To make this card I started my making the side panel.
I cut a piece of patterned paper to 5.25" x 2".
I backed this panel with a slightly larger orange panel and then I tie a piece of green rayon ribbon around the entire panel.

I adhered the panel to a 5.5" x 4.25" top folding brown card with Scrap Happy Glue.

The second panel is a 3" x 3.5" piece of patterned paper which is backed with a slightly larger panel of burgundy cardstock.

The main image panel is a 2" x 3.25" piece of cream cardstock.
I stamped the pumpkin image with Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink and colored it with Copic Markers.
Then I backed it with a slightly larger green panel and adhered it to the card with  Scrap Happy Glue.

For the sentiment panel I stamped Thankful on a wood label with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and adhered it to the card with Scrap Happy Glue.

Finally, I tied twine through two wooded buttons and adhered them to the top right of the card with Scrap Happy Glue.

 I hope you have enjoyed all my fall cards this month as well as the rest of the design teams projects that have been shared.  Next month's kit is so fun.  Check back to see what the team does with those wonderful Christmas images!

Creative Cafe' - Kit of the Month - featuring the 3" gift box tutorial x 2!

Hi Everyone!  Are you feeling that crisp feeling of fall in the air yet?  Even in Southern Cal -we're finally starting to get a little of that - especially once the sun goes down!  I love this time of year no matter what part of the country I'm living in- but I do miss those wonderful fall colors I grew up with in the midwest!

Today - I'm sharing another fun project - again featuring all the yummy products included in our October Kit of the month - Fall Harvest!   My project is a little different in that I'm going to showcase 2 - 3" square boxes I made from 1 sheet of 8 1/2" cardstock!  I found this wonderful video from Sam Donald in the UK -that I'll share here - but I'll also step it out a bit for you in my post below

First of all here's my 2 boxes- I finished them each a bit differently but they're perfect for putting in some small gift tags, candy goodies, small soap or anything you come up with!

These would be so sweet to have at each person's place setting for Thanksgiving or to bring as a hostess gift to share if you're invited to join someone else on Thanksgiving!  Anyway... let's get going on how to make these cuties!

First cut your piece of cardstock - I used cream as I wanted to stamp on one box - and the other I covered with papers from Bo Bunny Autumn Song which is included in the kit.

Turn your piece lengthwise and cut at 6".  That will leave you with a 5" piece.   Or...
  • 1 pc 6 x 8 1/2 - Box A
  • 1 pc 5 x 8 1/2 - Box B
Scoring - With my Score-Pal I scored each box as follows:

Box A - 6 x 8 1/2

Starting lengthwise first - score at 3, 4, 7, and 8
Turning crosswise next - score at 1/2, 1 1/2, 4 1/2, and 5 1/2

Box B- 5 x 8 1/2

Starting lengthwise first - score at 3, 4, 7, and 8 -  (yes! this is the same as the first box)
Turning crosswise next - score at 1, and 4

Cutting away the parts of the box for assembly  - I've included the YouTube video link in case you get lost.  (Just keep in mind her cardstock is only 8 1 /4" wide to our 8 1/2")

Here I'm showing you sections you need to remove - for each box - and cut lines

Once cut your 2 box shapes will look like this-

Decorate your boxes before assembling.  This is especially easier for the stamped box -  I tied a piece of twine on my stamped box with a punched leaf as a tag where I stamped it with the 'Fall' word from the Fall Harvest stampset.  You can see my 'coloring' I kept to a minimum and just using a small dauber I inked it in with Wild Honey distress ink just enough to give my pumpkins some color!

To assemble I used red-line tape- so it would stay together and hold up well.

Box A- I just needed at the one side -as this box you just need to join the side - and tuck in the ends to complete your box.  This box can be laid flat if you want to!
Box B - I put just on the back flaps on each side.  Removing one side at a time I just rolled this box up to meet the sides together leaving only one end that is open.

Here they are side by side- both I wanted you to see them without their finery- it's amazing how they could start out each a different size and assembly to become the same size box and from 1 sheet of cardstock!

For my stamped box I created some cute pumpkin tags that I could stick inside to give away as a special non-caloric treat!  To make these I cut 2 3/4 x 2 1/2 -squares I just took my scissors to round the edges, I was going for a more primtive look, but you could also use your corner rounder. I distressed the edges with Tie Dye, and Vintage Photo.   For the stems I just cut square pieces from the chocolate cardstock and using my mini fastener stapled them in place.  Tieing twine on each stem to finish them off.

To finish my other box- I cut and covered each side and top bottom with decorative paper,  I stamped colored and layered that gorgeous cornicopia image and fussy cut it out to place on top - I punched a tag to attach here as well.

 Here's a closer look at this one all pulled together!

Here's a side view- so you can see the layers- and I used a brad I covered with Brown Funky Flock to give some added dimension.  Wrapping it all up with green ribbon from the kit- I tied my stamped tag on with more twine.

Hope you give these a try- I think it is wonderful when you can more than one item  out of 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock let alone 2 treat boxes!

Thanks for stopping in and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Fall Harvest: Banner Cards and Subway Art

Hi everyone!  Laura here to share a couple more cards using October's
kit, The Rubber Cafe' Creative Cafe' Fall Harvest kit!

I am loving the Subway Art trend, and this set along with the add-on set,
make for some pretty amazing options for this fun trend, like this one:

Look like it's hard to line up?  Not at all....just use a larger acrylic stamp block
and make your arrangement before you even ink up, like so:

Once it was arranged to my liking, I inked it up with Versamark, and
embossed in orange on the brown paper.  I trimmed it after I stamped
it, but the size is approximately 4&1/4" by 3".  This piece was matted
on orange cardstock.

For the rest of this card, I used a 2" strip of the stripe paper along the
left side, a 3" piece of dot paper on the right side, then cut a bunch of
banners from paper and burlap, and glued them using The Rubber Cafe'
Scrap Happy Glue under the Subway Art piece.  I used a 1/2" strip of
burlap on the left, glued the same way....again, using Scrap Happy Glue,
it holds the burlap really well.

Before I attached the Subway Art piece, I tied some twine around it,
then adhered it to the card base.  A couple of Copic Marker colored
pearls, and sequin leaves finished it off with a little bling.

My second card today, is another banner card:

Simple, but sweet.....the "thankful" sentiment embossed in brown,
the brown and green banners stamped in Versamark with the
sunflower stamp to give it a soft background look, and I colored
4 sets of the sunflower stamp as well, then fussy cut 2 sets completely,
but only the large sunflower from the other two, so they could be
foam taped to the card for a more 3D effect.

One of the little mini kraft bags in the kit was trimmed down, and then
I slipped the banners and a 1" square of burlap in there with them (all
glued in with Scrap Happy Glue).  The button and flowers were
added to the edge of the bag, then I laid out the sequins and pearls
(colored with Copics) and glued them once I got an arrangement I
liked (I went for a look of the sequins being spilled out of the little bag).

I'm loving this fall crafting....really gets me warmed up for the holidays
ahead!

Thanks for joining me in the cafe' today!  Stop back soon!

Pumpkin Ribbon Bow Card

Hello! Dawn Rene here to share a fall card I made with the October Creative Kit of the Month - Fall Harvest. The rustic colors and textures in this kit are amazing. The focus for this card is the layering of all the fabulous papers with their stamps and also a ribbon bow.

I documented some of the steps I took in making it below to share with you!

TRC Oct Kit Pumpkin Card wm

The card base is cream cardstock and the finished dimensions are 5" x 6 3/8". The papers layered on top include:
* Orange Cardstock: 4 7/8" x 6 2/8"
* Autumn Song - Leaves (Cream Side): 4 6/8" x 6"
* Autumn Song - Leaves (Flower Side): 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
* Orange Cardstock: 7/8" x 3 1/2"
* Autumn Song - Amber (Diamond Side): 1/2" x 3 1/2"
* Autumn Song - Amber (Striped Side): 1" x 6"
* Autumn Song - Amber (Diamond Side): 1" x 6"
All the pieces of paper are distressed with Cocoa Ink.

TRC Oct Kit Pumpkin Card 2
Next I stamped the pumpkins on cream cardstock with the Cocoa Ink. I colored in the pumpkins with Copic Markers (Y35, Y38, YG61, YG67, E25). Then I fussy cut out the pumpkins and distressed with the Cocoa Ink.
TRC Oct Kit Pumpkin Card 3
I cut out a decorative shape from the Autumn Song Twilight paper and layered it on the card above the Autumn Song Leaves square.

Then I cut out a decorative shape from the Autumn Song Leaves paper and a piece of the burlap (about 2" x 2 1/2"). I layered the pumpkins on the patterned paper and burlap. The pumpkins are adhered with Kool Tak Foam to make them pop!

TRC Oct Kit Pumpkin Card 4
I stamped the word "Pumpkins" from the Kit with Cocoa Ink and distressed around the edges. Then adhered it to the card.

The words "Autumn" and "Harvest" from the Kit were stamped with Cocoa Ink on decorative shapes and adhered to the card. The "Harvest" shape is raised to give it dimension with Kool Tak Foam.

The last part of the project - making the ribbon bow! I cut 4 pieces of ribbon 4" long. I laid the 4" piece of ribbon on the card and then folded in each end to the center and adhered with a dot of glue. I continued this same process adding another piece of ribbon on top at a slight angle from the one below it.
TRC Oct Kit Pumpkin Card 5
The bow is topped off with a wood button and twine from the kit.
TRC Oct Kit Pumpkin Card 6
I colored three flat back pearls with Copic markers to match the papers and adhered them to the top right of the card! Voila - all done!

This is a picture of the completed project again.
