Sweet Words from May Kit of the Month

The Rubber Cafe' KOTM for May is full of sweet inspiration!  Laura here to share a few "Sweet Words" with you:

This card started with a 4&1/4" by 5&1/2" base of black cardstock.  Next a piece of 4" by 5&1/4" aqua stripe patterned paper was adhered to the base using Scrap Happy Glue.

A 2&3/4" by 5&1/4" piece of polka dot patterned paper was cut and then stamped with the small flower stamp in Memento Black Tuxedo Ink as you see here:

The polka dot piece was adhered about 1/2" from the top of the stripe piece on the base.  I added one of the washi border stickers to the top edge, and added a 1" punched pink pearl cardstock border strip along the bottom edge:

To create the word background behind the cupcake, I used a 1&3/4" square of white cardstock and began to layer on the word stickers included in the kit until I had this:

I turned this piece over like so:

So I could easily see to trim the excess leaving me the 1&3/4" word square.  The edges of the square were inked using Black Soot Distress Ink.  And this piece was matted on a 2" by 2" square of black cardstock.

The cupcake was stamped in Memento Black Tuxedo Ink, then I used a thin layer of Scrap Happy Glue to fill in the frosting and the cherry on top.  After it dried, because the glue stays tacky, I could then carefully apply a wee bit of Patriot Red You're So Fine Glitter to the cherry, and then fill in the frosting with the glitter in Passion Pink. I buffed the glitter in softly with my fingertip, and  tapped off the excess.

Glossy Accents was added to the cherry and the cupcake wrapper and once dry, it was added to the word square with foam tape, and this piece was added to the card with foam tape.  The stamped "Happy Birthday" sentiment was matted with pink cardstock and glued to the bottom of the cupcake:

You can see from this close up, I added a border of 3/4" black cardstock, and 1/2" aqua stripe, wrapped with Queen and Co. twine, just above the punched border.  And added pearls to the flowers and border as finishing touches.

Thanks for stoppin' by the Cafe' today....hope you found some "sweet" inspiration!  Make sure to stop by again soon for more sweet goodies!
