Treasured Blossoms: August Creative Cafe' Kit of the Month

Hello everyone!  Today I'm sharing a clean and simple all occasion card using The Rubber Cafe' KOTM for August:

Card base:  5&1/2" by 4&1/4" black cardstock.

Layer 1: 5&1/4" by 4" piece of coral cardstock.

Layer 2: A 1" and 2" strip of black polka dot pattern paper, with two 1/2" pieces of gold mirror cardstock one glued to the center of the 1" strip, and one tucked under the top of the 2" strip.  I tied a seam binding bow around the 2" piece before I glued it to the card base.  All pieces adhered with Scrap Happy Glue.

The flowers and leaves are stamped in Black Tuxedo Memento Ink, and colored with Copic Markers.  I curled the petals up slightly with my fingers, added a bit of bling to the centers, then glued them down using Scrap Happy Glue:

I added a button from the MME chipboard, with a small piece of seam binding to the 1" gold mirror cardstock strip to finish it off and liked the "You Are Treasured" on the button as an everyday sentiment.

It's always great to have a few all occasion cards tucked away!

Thanks for stopping by the cafe' today!  Stop back soon!

Everything Day - Celebrate it All!

Hello there, TRC fans, Mary-Ann with you today.   I am sharing my last card of the month using August's Creative Cafe KOTM.  E.V.E.R.Y. single stamp is amazing in this pack.
I really wanted to use the pinks, blacks and gold that were provided in the kit so this is what I came up with.

I started with an A2 base in black.  Keeping every line clean and simple I added a 1" pink and white stripped piece backed with foam to the left side.  Cut a thin strip of gold and added it as shown.  I then cut a 2x3 piece from the map paper, backed it with foam and attached to the lower right.  I stamped the flower shown (two times) from the "Flower Bouquet" stamp set with black ink on scraps of the white paper.  At this point, I would suggest you do your fussy cutting.  I then added Scrap Happy glue to each dot and sprinkled with gold glitter.  I used my heating tool to help heat set these.   You could also use stickles, a gold pearl pen or embossing powder to get to get the same effect.  Add your flowers after they have completely dried, overlapping slightly.

Stamped my sentiment, backed with thin gold paper and tied a tight little pink bow.  This is the time that I wish I had the Bow-it-all to help with the perfect bow.  That is definitely on my "NEED" list.

I hope you have been inspired to create with color combos that work for you.
See you in September!

Vellum Embossing with the August Creative Cafe Kit!

Hi -Michelle back to finish up the month with my last card as Guest Designer here at The Rubber Cafe'!   I have had so much fun playing with the August Creative Cafe Kit! For today's card I am using a fun Vellum Embossing Technique and added a touch of dimension to my leaves to create this fabulous tag card!
As I did on an earlier card, the leaves were stamped on the green designer paper from the MME pad and then color was added with YG46 and YG43 for interest.   To finish I fussy cut the leaves.

For this card you will be folding the leaf over your scissors blade, right down the middle to give the leaf some dimension!

Next stamp the flower image onto white vellum (not included in kit) with StazOn ink and let dry. TIP: StazOn ink is a fast drying ink, so perfect when working on non pourous smooth surfaces like vellum

Flip your dry images over onto a foam pad.  Using an embossing stylus, gently rub every other section of the flower petals until they stretch and turn white as shown.

Color the flat sections that you did not emboss with Copic B97.

Flip your image back over to the *right* side.  If you wish to tone down the white, you can color it carefully with a Copic B45.  Just be careful not to touch the stazon or you will have a bleeding issue. TIP:  Copics and StazOn ink don't play well until dry!

Fussy cut  your flowers and attach to your tag with glue dots under the center of the flowers.  I added a sunflower gem on my flowers for added dimension and interest.

I stamped the little black flowers onto the Bazzill Bling paper with Stazon ink.  I embellished the center of each with a dot of glue and then the gold glitter.

My tag measures 4 1/2 x 2 1/8 inches.  I free handed the corners and hole punch, but if you have a tag in your stash, go ahead and trace it!

I hope I have inspired you to give this technique a try!  I have enjoyed my month as Guest Designer with The Rubber Cafe!

Floral Bouquet- 'Pink' Wash and Blackboard technique - Featuring August Creative Cafe' Kit of the Month

Hello!  Today I'm back to share what is becoming a favorite technique of mine. Especially when I want to do that almost single layer card!

I came across this when Blackboard and White wash started becoming a fun and new trend.  I've changed mine up a bit today as I'm using a pink inks instead of white ink on a black background.  And once again, I'm featuring the gorgeous Floral Bouquet stamp set that is included in our August Creative Cafe' kit.
Check this out it's easier to do than you think!

To Ink this beauty - I started with Memento Luxe Inks - the outline looks white but it is really Memento-Luxe Angel Pink; I wanted a little more color so used my Memento Luxe Rosebud and a water brush to softly fill the interiors. I stamped small circles with a clean pencil eraser end dipped in Rosebud ink.
To finish - I took my T-bar ruler to help me create a 'wonky' edge to my card. There are dies out there to do this as well, but I just had fun cutting my angles myself.
Once I had cut my background piece to the angles I wanted, I backed it with Pink cardstock with  just a 'smidge' showing. I put this all on a White card - cut and top scored at 4 1/4" x 11 - so it would finish as a standard A2 card and fit any envelope.
I used the stamp phrases 'Happy' and 'everything' from the Add-On stampset this month "Laurels" to create my sentiment 'Happy everything' aligning each word with the angled edge of the bottom. Stamping directly to the white card.
That's it for me today - keep an eye out we'll be sharing a sneak peek soon of our upcoming new kit release for September!

Clean & Simple My Way!

Hello Rubber Cafe' Fans!  Hope you are having fun creating with your August Creative Cafe' Kit.  I know I have enjoyed using all the wonderful products in the kit!
Today I have 2 clean and simple cards......well they are clean and simple to me!  Sometimes you just need to sit down and make a quick card using the supplies you have on hand and the Creative Cafe' Kits are perfect for this!

Here is my first card.  As you can see it is pretty simple.

I used the black cardstock as my base.  I layered some of the gold cardstock and patterned paper together.  Then I used a scalloped punch to give detail to a strip of the patterned paper.  I stamped the sentiment from the Add-on Laurels stamp set, onto a die cut and layered that onto a corresponding die using the gold card.  To finish I added the ribbon and threaded it thru one of the cardstock buttons included in the kit!
For this second card, I stamped the roses and vase onto the white cardstock die cut and then I also stamped a couple of roses on a scrap piece of cardstock.  I then colored the roses with my copic markers and fussy cut them out.  I added them using 3d foam squares around the vase.  The vase was stamped onto some patterned paper from the kit and glued into place using Scrap Happy Sheer glue.

As I said this is my version of clean and simple.  I know to some they might seem a little more involved but you can change things up to be best fit your style!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Easel Floral Card

Happy Sunday Rubber Cafe' Fans!  Today I have a beautiful fun fold card to share with you using this months Creative Cafe' Card kit from The Rubber Cafe'.  This week I made a fun Easel Card out of a standard A2 card base.
I started by cutting one of the pieces of blue cardstock in half length wise.  I scored the 11" x 4 1/4" card base at 5 1/2" and at 2 3/4".  I die cut three nesting images.  You could use any nesting shape that you have on hand.

I adhered a piece of 2 5/8" x 4 1/8" panel of patterned paper to the bottom front of the card with Scraphappy Glue.  Adhere the nested panels together and then to the bottom portion of the card.  Tie a piece of ribbon around the card and through the nested panels.

Make sure you only glue the bottom portion of the nested panels to the card so that you can fold it to look like this.
Stamp the vase and flowers on white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and color with copic markers.  Then cut them out and adhere to the card with Scraphappy Glue.

Complete the inside as shown.

I hope you enjoyed today's card and that you will give it a try!

Check back often because the rest of the design team will be sharing many more amazing projects the rest of this month!

Anniversary card featuring August Creative Cafe KOTM

Good morning TRC followers, Mary-Ann here to share my next card for the month of August featuring the Creative Cafe Kit of the Month.

It contains some stunning paper from My Mind's Eye, beautiful chunky stamps and those are what I decided to focus on with this simple card.
I started with a light blue A2 base card.
I then cut  three papers slightly smaller than the other and nested them on top of each other until I ended with the light blue paper from the paper pad.
I stamped the flower stamp on two different sections of the pink paper.
Stamped the leaves on green and the vase on the map paper.
I backed it all with foam and added to the front of my card as shown.
With my favorite doodling pen, I created stronger lines on the leaves and traced the outer edges of each piece to cover my messy fussy cutting.
I stamped my title and backed it with foam tape as well.
I did doodle around the edges of some of my papers for effect and added three smaller doodled circles to the vase.

Simple but bold.  I let the papers and stamps shine.
Check back again soon as other designers are creating as we read!

Blossoms of Thanks: Creative Cafe' August KOTM

The bold blossoms in this Gold n' Glitz kit from The Rubber Cafe' are so pretty, and make great everyday cards.  Today I'm sharing a thank you card in soft monochromatic aqua:

The base is 5&1/2" by 4&1/4" white cardstock, layered with a 5&1/4" by 4" piece of aqua stripe patterned paper from the MME paper in the August KOTM.

The roses are stamped on a 3" by 3" square of white cardstock using Versamark ink, then embossed.

Just a hint: To get a look that's nicely random....start by stamping a whole flower just slightly off center, then stamp several around it stamping off the sides.

The color is Distress Ink applied with a sponge applicator, using a heavier amount of ink in the flower centers.  I dripped water on the ink then blotted it dry to give the softer effect for the background:

To complete this piece, I added Queen and Co sunflower stones to the centers.  I added a 1" strip to the left side (only about 1/4" sticks out) and glued this with Scrap Happy Glue to a 4&1/4" by 3&1/4" piece of aqua pearl cardstock. After adding a seam binding bow to the left side, I glued the entire piece to the card.

The Thank You sentiment is stamped in Black Tuxedo Memento, and foam taped to the card.  A few more of the sunflower stones are the finishing touch.

Thanks for stoppin' by the cafe' today!  This card would be great for a birthday, or any occasion really....always great to have cards like this on hand, and you can add the sentiment later when you need it!

Zentangle Meets the August Creative Cafe Kit

I have two more cards to share today using the August Creative Cafe kit.

Today I am using Zentangle patterns to decorate the vase in this set.  You can always stamp the vase onto designer paper and cut out and apply for a paper-pieced effect, but I have found much fun in using Zentangle patterns and doodling on my cards of late.

For this vase I stamped the image onto white cardstock and then colored it with Copic Markers G46, G43, R22, R21.

Next I added the Zentangle patterns as shown.  The top portion of the vase is simply a series of circles in varying sizes.  I draw with a 01 Micron pen.
Do as I say here and not as I did.  I forgot to color the vase first and you can see the black smeared a bit in the top portion of the vase.  Color it first and then tangle on it and you will get the crisp clean effect I did on my card.

The bottom portion of the vase is a pattern called Nekton.  Basically it is a series of 4 straight parallel lines in varying directions.  I then used pencil and Copic markers to add shading to the bottom of the vase.  You can see that I shaded a portion of the vase above and how much depth it adds to the design.
I kept the layout of these cards simple and basic since I want the focus to be on the floral arrangement and vase.

The second card I stamped the vase on the pink designer paper and then tangled on it.  I only colored certain circles in the dotted portion for a totally different effect.

The greenery images in each card are stamped directly onto the designer paper and then colored with YG67 and accented with a white gel pen.

The flowers on each card are stamped on white cardstock and colored with R29, R24, R22 and R21.  I then fussy cut them and popped them up on foam tape for dimension.

I added some of the rayon ribbon to each card as well as some Q and Co Sunflower Gems.

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek...I'll be back next week with a fun card using the Vellum Embossing Technique!

Simple Step card -featuring the Creative Cafe' -kit of the Month

Hi!  Today I'm sharing a simple elegant Anniversary step card.  I kept the colors simple with a black card base, gold accents and a pop of red in my flower.

Here's a look at my finished card -

Card base:
Cut and score a 4 1/4" x 11 piece of black cardstock -
Score lines along the horizontal length at 1", 2" and 5 1/2"
Fold the first two scores in a  peak and valley or acoordian fold to create a base that can stand
Framed piece:
Cut a 3" square piece from striped gold pattern paper from the Market Street 6x6 pad from the kit
A 2" square from gold polka dot pattern paper
A 2 1/4" square from the gold metallic cardstock
Layer and adhere all pieces together and finally put ahesive on the lower piece only 1/2" up and attach to the front peak of the base.

Take a closer look....
I stamped my flower 2 x's colored and fussy cut it out.  This was popped up with thick dimensional glue dots with the top flower placed offset from the one behind.
For embellishments I diecut a beautiful lacy butterfly -which I adhered to the back drop of the card base
I also diecut another flourish, it was to large so just took a section of it and placed it behind my flower.
I love how well the gold cardstock diecuts, it really creates beautiful embellishments!

To finish up my card, I added a gemstone from Queen&Co, to adorn the center of my flower lending a final touch to my oh so elegant Anniversary card.    I stamped the phrase 'anniversary' from the Laurels Add-on set using Gold metallic ink.

Ink: Memento Black Tuxedo; Copic Markers
