Shadow Box Technique with the September Creative Cafe' Kit

Last month's Guest Designer Spot has turned into a bit longer stint with The Rubber Cafe, they've asked me to design cards with their fabulous Creative Cafe kits until the end of the year!  So I look forward to sharing my creations with you on Sept 4, 11 and 25th this month.

Here is a peek at the creative goodness tucked into the September kit.

The first step in making the shadow box card was to stamp the kitty image onto acetate with Stazon ink.  The acetate is not included in the kit, however with all of the packaging in the world today, it's easy to snag a piece before it's headed off to the landfill and re-purpose it for your crafting!

Next I cut out a 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch piece of the green cardstock.  Using a ruler on the back of the piece I drew a 1/4 inch frame around the outside.

Use a craft knife and a ruler to trim out the center of this frame.

Trace the green panel on your acetate with a Sharpie marker and then trim your acetate slightly smaller than your drawn lines.

Line the back of your green frame with 1/4 inch Scor-Tape and attach to your acetate kitty panel.

Line the back of the green frame again with thin foam tape pieces.

Prepare your card panel with 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch green cardstock with the 5 1/4 x 4 inch black cardstock on top.  Punch a 1 3/4 inch circle from the orange cardstock.

Attach the orange cardstock circle to your card and then peel and attach the prepared acetate window frame over the circle, this is your spooky moon!  The foam tape lifts up the image so that it casts a shadow on your moon!

Tie some of the included purple rayon ribbon around the card.  Stamp your sentiment and pop it up on foam tape for a clean, simple and fun Halloween greeting!

I look forward to sharing another creation with you soon!  Happy crafting!
