Chasing Dreams: Creative Cafe' December KOTM

After all the hustle and bustle of the holidays are over.....I always find I need a pick-me-up.  And it's usually found in my craft room getting creative with ink, stamps and glue!  The December Creative Cafe' KOTM "Take Flight" is full of inspiration for creating, cards, art journaling, mixed media....really whatever your artistic heart desires!

This card uses the set included in your kit--Soaring Above:

Base: 5&1/2" by 4&1/4" piece of gray cardstock.

First Layer: 5&1/4" by 4" piece of aqua pearl carstock

Second Layer: 5" by 3&3/4" piece of word/swirl pattern paper and use a distressing tool or scissors to distress sides:

Next:   Working on one side at a time....apply Black Soot Distress Ink with a sponge applicator, then sprinkle with silver embossing powder right away, then set with a heat gun.  Continue until all four sides are finished.  This is the final look:

Center strip: Mat a 1: piece of dot pattern paper onto a 1&1/4" strip of gray cardstock.  Wrap with seam binding ribbon.  Crinkle/distress seam binding by rolling it into a ball in your hands, then wrap a 5" piece around center strip:

Add a seam binding bow, and glue this piece toward bottom of card using Scrap Happy Glue.

To create the balloon, line up 4 pieces of washi tape onto a piece of white cardstock.  Get them lined up tightly like so:

Trim around the tape (doesn't have to be perfect....just gives you a bit of a guideline of where to stamp on the back side.  Turn the piece over and stamp the balloon on the back of the taped piece using Black Tuxedo Memento Ink.  Fussy cut around the balloon (I found it easier to leave just the balloon without the basket).  Then cut apart each segment of the balloon.

Next:  Stamp the balloon on the aqua pearl paper and fussy cut it apart as well.  Stamp the balloon one more time, on a piece of white cardstock to use as your base.  I used a bit of Black Soot Distress Ink around each piece of the balloon before I glued it together using Scrap Happy Glue.  The final result:

Stamp the sentiment in Black Tuxedo Ink on white cardstock, trim to a banner shape and mat with gray cardstock.  Glue to the card, and foam tape the balloon to the card on the right.  Add rhinestones to the lower right corner.

Thanks for stoppin' by the cafe' today....I hope you are as inspired by this kit as I am.....so many creative possibilities, and the design team will be sharing more with you over the next month....so come back soon!
