Cherry blossoms-Clean and Simple style!

Hi Everyone! I was with some friends paper crafting and scrapping yesterday - and while I was there finished this clean and simple card! It's sweet and simple but still full of some fun techniques I've been wanting to try or do more with. First of all I wanted to try out my new glass bottle Sizzix die that I bought last weekend at the Anaheim Scapbook expo. Teamed with my simple Blossom stamp, I was on my way!

Here's my card-

Using the Blossom Branch stampset I stamped this on white cardstock - lightly colored in the blossoms with my copic and fussy cut it out.   I diecut my glass bottle from some acetate packaging and using my copic marker, colored it to look like green glass.

One other area of detail - is taking my ornate oval Spellbinder die, instead of cutting with it I used it to deboss the details into my card - it's a little hard to see but look closely and you'll see the lovely details that come through. I backed this with some green/white patterned paper this time just having it show the sides, and not all around.

A simple little I love you tag and some Pink /white bakers twine to tie it all together and I'm done!

This card is ready for anything - birthday, get well wishes, thinking of you, or just  any reason or no reason are the best kind, it's blank inside and just waiting for that lucky recipient.

Thanks for stopping by!  Check back- we'll be sharing some inspiration projects using our April kit-
Have a great week!

Call Me- Featuring March's Creative Cafe' kit

Hello there Cafe friends!  It's Mary-Ann here to share with you a layered card using March's Kit of the Month -Fashionable Accessories.  I pondered over what I was going to make for this card, what stamp I wanted to highlight.  I just loved the phone and wanted it to be the star.  Here is what I created.

I started with the standard 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card base, and added a slightly smaller patterned paper to the card.  I whipped the edges through my sewing machine and started layered papers and stickers until I was content.  The circles are cut with nesting Fiskars circle punches.

I did add some foam tape behind the phone and other items for dimension.  You can see here that I added a group of thread wrapped around the card and tied in a bow.  Since there is sewing on this card, I used the same color for the bow.

You can see here that I just twisted my brown ribbon tight to create more of a rope effect and stapled it in place.

I added glue dots to my "Call Me" banner, buckled it a little and attached as you see here.  If this were going to be mailed, it could just lay flat.

I stamped the phone with brown ink and VersaMark, heat embossing with clear embossing powder.  A little doodling around the edge of the card and around the phone circle with a brown pen adds a bit more detail.  Since I did machine stitching, I pretended to do the same with squiggly marks with my brown pen.  With a paintbrush, I added brown drops of Dylusions Ink Spray.  I maintain control for the larger drops and then flick it on my finger for the smaller ones.

Here's a final look at my finished card!

Hope you are inspired.  See you soon.

March's Creative Cafe' kit - Fabulous, Gorgeous, Beautiful You!

Hey there....Laura here today in The Rubber Cafe' with a another soft, pretty card using the gorgeous stamp set from Creative Cafe' March Kit.  These cards are out of my typical comfort zone, since I'm in a family full of guys....so I'm enjoying the chance to get full of glitter and frills with a card like this one:

The Base:
Dark Brown cardstock cut to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card size

Layer 2:
Gold zigzag pattern cut to 4 1/4" x 2  1/2"

Layer 3:
White swirl cardstock cut to 3" x 5" as mat for embroidery hoop print
cut to 2 3/4" x 4 3/4"

The Tags:
The words "fabulous and gorgeous" are stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento on the white swirl cardstock, then trimmed down to about 5/8" wide, and 1 3/4" long.  Then clip out a "V" of each to make a banner.
Adhere these to the tags, add a jute bow and enamel dots.

The Center Panel:
Using the Spellbinders Mega Classic Scalloped Ovals (3rd size down), cut a mat using brown cardstock.  Stamp the hat on the stand, and the "you're beautiful" sentiment over it on cream cardstock, then line up and cut out using the Spellbinders Mega Ovals (3rd size down). Ink edges, color stand in with Copic markers.  Stamp a second hat, color with Copics and cut out the hat only.  Adhere second hat over first hat with foam tape, then adhere entire oval to brown scalloped mat.  Adhere to card.

Finishing:
Adhere completed tags to right side of oval.  Add crinkled seam binding bow.
Take paper rose, brush on a bit of Scrap Happy Glue, then sprinkle with You're So Fine Glitter to give the petal edges a gilded look:

Adhere rose to center of bow with Scrap Happy Glue.
Add 2 large enamel dots in upper right corner.

March's Creative Cafe' kit - Call Me....Maybe!

Hello Rubber Cafe' Fans!  Hope your week has been a good one!  Today I have a fun card to share with you using stamps and products from the March Creative Cafe' Kit - Fashionable Accessories featuring the stamp set - Friendship is the Best Accessory.

This is a super easy to make and I used a bunch of fun embellishments from the kit!  First the base of the card is the kraft-colored cardstock cut to 4 1/4 x 11.  I scored it at 5 1/2" and folded it in half.  The blue patterned paper is cut to 3 3/4 x 5".  I cut the printed paper using Labels 8.  Here is how I laid out my little rectangles.....

The rectangles measure 1 x 1 3/4".  I used some Scrap Happy Sheer Glue to adhere them into place onto my Labels 8 die cut.  After they dried, I used some 3d foam squares to adhere the Labels 8 piece into place.

I stamped the sentiment and the phone onto the ivory cardstock using Rich Cocoa Memento Ink.  I cut the sentiment out to fit onto one of the little tags included in your kit.  I fussy cut the telephone out and glued it into place as shown using Scrap Happy Sheer Glue.

I used a copic marker to color one of the white flowers included in the kit.  I cut most of the wire off the flower and used a glue dot to anchor it onto my twine bow.

Here is a close-up of my finished card.  I added the little pink jellies on the right bottom corner to complete the card.

Thanks for checking out my project today!  This was a fun and easy card to create!  Now I think I will go listen to that song since its stuck in my head......Call Me..... Maybe!  LOL

Tri-Shutter Friendship Card- Featuring March's Creative Cafe' kit

Dawn Rene here to share the second card I made with The Rubber Cafe's March, Creative Cafe Card kit.  My card today is featuring a Tri-Shutter template, I selected this fold so I could highlight all the stamps in the kit and the various patterned papers.

Here is a picture of the card standing up.

For the base of the card, I used a 6" x 12" piece of cream cardstock. These are the instructions for folding the card.

* Measure and mark out the lines on the cardstock
Capture
* Cut on the red lines
Capture 3
* Fold on the blue lines to make the "mountains" (these lines bend upward towards you)
Capture 2
* Fold on the green lines to make the "valley" folds (these lines bend downward away from you).
Capture 1
The pink flower on the front of the card was made with ribbon from the kit and Scrap Happy Glue. I learned how to make this flower at a Scrapbook Expo a couple years ago in a The Rubber Cafe' class I've included a step-out tutorial below, and you can also see Melissa's video posted here  on The Rubber Cafe' website where she creates fabric roses.

To begin, start with a large circle of Scrap Happy Glue on a piece of parchment paper and let it cure over night. It makes a large glue dot to use for the base of the ribbon flower and will remain tacky to the touch.  You just press the edge of the ribbon round the glue dot - making small gathers, as you can see in my picture below I worked from the outside on. Simple and easy!

March Creative Cafe Kit ~ Fancy Hat!

Hi again Rubber Cafe' Peeps!  Kendra here again today sharing my next card for the month with the latest Creative Cafe kit -Fashionable Accessories.

To get started, I trimmed all my cardstock pieces ~ kraft card base (4 1/4" x 11"); dark brown (5 1/2" x 3 3/8"); bluish/green 5 1/2" x 3 1/4"; and a floral pattern paper piece (3" x 5 1/2").  I also trimmed 2 scallop edges from the coral cardstock.  I layered all of the pieces and attached them to the card base.

I stamped the sweet hat image on a die cut I had in my stash with Memento Luxe Wedding Dress white ink, and heat embossed the image with clear embossing powder.

After the image was colored with markers, I sponged Memento Luxe Angel Pink ink around the hat image to make it really pop.   Then I attached it to the card base.

I decided I really wanted a nice light blue ribbon, so I used my light teal blue marker and colored the white seam binding to match my pattern paper, image and cardstock.

I tied a bow around my card and secured it with jute from the kit and then added one of the resin roses from the kit to the center.
