Butterfly Swing Card (extra post)

Hello Rubber Cafe' Fans!

I am back today with another card that I made using this months  Creative Cafe' Card Kit of the Month!

You can see all the info about this months kit, Take Flight, here.  I used the Butterfly from the add on stamp set, "Winging it"on today's card.

I started with a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" panel of cardstock.

I folded the panel in half to create a 5 1/2"x 4 1/4" side folded A2 card.

Fold the front panel in half backwards as shown.  If you are scoring these folds you would score at 2 1/8" and 4 1/4",

Open the card up and center the second to the largest Spellbinders classic circle die on the card front.

Lay the top plate on the panel up to the scored line as shown.

Run the card through the die cutting machine.  It should only cut half the circle so it looks like this.

Use a circle die 2 sizes smaller and run back through the cutting machine.

It will look like this after this step.

Stamp two butterfly images with coral ink and cut them out.

Using Scrap Happy Glue, glue the two backsides of the butterflies together with a piece of twine in between them as shown.  I got this twine from an older Creative Card Kit but you can use any twine or string you have on hand.

Use Scrap Happy Glue to glue the twine to the circle at the top and bottom of the circle and set aside to dry.

Die cut a circle pattern out of dark coral paper from the paper pack that comes with this months kit.

Adhere this circle over the top of the circle on the card with Scrap Happy Glue.

Trim the twine on the top and bottom of the circle.

I adhered a panel of patterned paper to the inside of the card too.

I hope you enjoyed today's card!  I'll see you next Sunday with another terrific fun fold card that I created.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hello TRC Fans!  Yes, you read that correctly!  It's time to start thinking about Valentine's Day....I know, Christmas is just over and it's not even the new year yet, but its the perfect time to start working ahead on your projects for those you love!

Here is a card I created using the supplies from my December Creative Cafe' kit - Take Flight and the add-on stamp set - Winging It.

This card measures 5 1/4 x 5 1/4" square.  I cut the dark teal cardstock to 5 1/4 x 10 1/2".  Then I scored it at 5 1/4" to create the base.  I cut the lighter metallic teal cardstock to 5 x 5".  The patterned paper layer was cut to 4 3/4 x 4 3/4".  I cut a small strip of the peach patterned paper to go across the card (under the ribbon).  The heart was created using the Lace Hearts die from Spellbinders.  I stamped the butterfly image from the add-on Winging It, onto white cardstock using black ink.  I colored the butterfly with copic markers and fussy cut it out.  I stamped the sentiment onto white cardstock and hand cut it into a banner.  The other sentiments are from a piece of the patterned paper included in the kit.

This was a fun and easy card to make.  I like it because its not pink or red!  Non-traditional Valentine's Day colors are a hit with me!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Dreaming of Glitter - Glitter and Acetate Mini-Tutorial

Hello there!  Today I have a card that uses You're So Fine glitter in THREE ways!  It is a glitter shaker card featuring the glitter and acetate technique and glitter as an embellishment!  Bling, Bling, BLING!

I once again grabbed some acetate that I had handy.  You can use some of that Christmas gift packaging that abounds this time of year or acetate cardstock.

Stamp your images with black Stazon ink onto the acetate pieces as shown.
Next, apply glue to the back side of the stamped acetate and then apply the glitter.  You can see the dragonfly is completed here and the butterfly awaits some of the gorgeous glitter.
You will want to apply the glue sparingly as you can, but covering the entire surface.  Let the pieces dry for a few hours.  I speed things up by laying them glitter side up on the top of my Ott Lite.  Patience in stamping is not one of my strong suits!

Once dry, you will want to cut your images out closely leaving a narrow border around them.  I attached the bugs to the top of my card with glue dots under the body portion of the bugs only.

You can see the Diamond Clear Cool Highlight Glitter that I added to the Sequins in the shaker box.  I also added a few clear round glass ball beads that I had on hand.  Hint:  Glue a few sequins around your shaker box randomly so that there is the appearance of bling even when the card is not being shaken!

You can also see the glitter I used as an embellishment on this card.  So simple...just add a strip of Scor-tape and glitter it.  Add another and glitter it and repeat as desired.  I used four different coordinating glitters to create my frame on the card.
Here is a peek at the butterfly.  You can color them any which way that inspires you...I went with pink and purple for this fanciful flutterby!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and taking a peek at my creation!  I hope you don't just follow your dreams in the New Year...I hope you CHASE them!

Butterfly Step Card

Hello Rubber Cafe' Fans!

I am back today with another fun fold card that I made using this months  Creative Cafe' Card Kit of the Month!

You can see all the info about this months kit, Take Flight, here.  I used the the add on stamp set, "Winging it"on today's card as well.

I started with a half sheet of shimmery cardstock.  It measures 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".
Score on the vertical dotted lines and cut on the two horizotal lines.

Then fold so that the card base looks like this.

Cut patterned paper panels slightly smaller that the panels of the card and adhere with Scrap Happy Glue.  I stamped on the bottom center panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Tie a piece of black seam binding from the kit around the lower part of the card.

Stamp the butterfly image three times on white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and color with Copic Markers before cutting them all out.  Stamp the sentiment on a die cut circle panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Back panel with a larger scallop edge shimmery circle and add rhinestones.

Adhere sentiment panel and butterflies to card with Scrap Happy Glue as shown to complete the card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card! I can't wait to share what I'm making with the January Kit of the Month!

Hi!  It's Dona (orange gearle), back with a card I made for The Rubber Cafe, featuring the Take Flight Creative Cafe Kit and the bonus add-on stamp set, Winging It.

The patterned papers in the 6x6 pad from Carta Bella are fantastic!  I knew from the moment I opened my kit that I wanted to use these papers together!

For the base I used the dark, red card stock, cut and folded to 5 & 1/2" by 4&1/4".
Next, I grabbed the three coordinating pieces of paper that I fell in love with from the 6x6 Carta Bella Moments & Memories paper pad (included in the kit).  I cut the flower paper to  2 1/4", the green to 1 3/4" and the thin strip of polkadot paper to 1/2". I glued them to the base with Scrap Happy Glue (polkadot paper last). Then came the fun!

I grabbed the dragonfly stamp, Memento ink and that lovely shimmering card stock. I stamped the dragonfly and then decided I wanted to get out one of my favorite things -- gelatos by Faber-Castell DMC.  I mixed the green, gold and a little blue to make an olive green to match the paper.  I did this by shaving off a little of each of those colors and adding a little water before mixing with a brush.  Then I applied the green and red with a thin brush. The shimmering background of the card stock only add to the look!  I love how it turned out!

Next I fussy cut it out of the card stock, used Scrap Happy Glue on the body, and a 3D foam square at the base of each wing to give it a pop -- and on the card it went!

Finally,  I cut the phrases "You & Me" and "grateful for this life" out of one of the patterned papers included in the 6x6 pad and attached them as my message (I popped up the You & Me to add a bit of interest and texture).

This was a fun one to make!  Thank you for the opportunity to make and share this card with you all!

Love the Journey: Creative Cafe' KOTM

Hi everyone!  Are you enjoying a the inspiration this month?  This Creative Cafe' KOTM for December, Take Flight, is inspiring all on it's own!  I've got a card that could work for anyone, but I was thinking it would be a great guy card:

Base: 5&1/2" by 4&1/4" burgundy cardstock

1st Layer: 5&1/4" by 4" olive green paper then glued to base using Scrap Happy Glue.

Then I cut the following pieces to layer:

5&1/4" by 1&1/2" strip of green with white dot paper that is glued to a 5&1/4" by 2" strip of blue scroll pattern paper.

4" by 3" piece of gold shimmer cardstock--and stamped the bird stamp in the upper right corner, using Versamark, and embossing with Silver Medal embossing powder.  I added a few rhinestones near the bird's head.

1&5/8" by 1&1/4" piece of gold shimmer cardstock--stamped with sentiment in Versamark, and embossed with Black fine detail embossing powder.  This is glued to a 1&3/4" by 1&3/8" piece of burgundy cardstock (as a mat for the sentiment).

3&3/4" by 3/4" piece of olive green paper cut into a banner and glued to a 4" by 1" strip of burgundy cardstock cut into a banner.  This piece is glued to a 3" by 1&1/2" piece of blue scroll paper and two rhinestones are added to the right side.

Then I cut a 6" piece of olive green seam binding.

So I had this collection of pieces:

Then I further assembled the card together:

The finishing touch was to add the bird piece to the center of the card (lined up with the green paper on the right side) and foam tape the sentiment below the bird.  I added a seam binding bow to finish it.

Thanks for stoppin' by the cafe' today!  Stop back soon for more creating with the amazing kit!

Hello

Merry Christmas Eve.
Mary-Ann here, trying to inspire you during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.
One great thing about his month's Creative Cafe KOTM - Take Flight, if you are in need of a relaxing day in the craft room, this kit will help you find a little bit of peace during such a hectic time.
Todays card is created with two large circle punches.  You can use what you have on hand.  Maybe large Spellbinder circles, a glass traced with a pencil, or punches like myself.

I started with a 5x10 pink card base folded in half to create a 5x5 card.  I applied a 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 piece of floral to the top of the card base with Scrap Happy Glue.  I then cut a green polka dot piece of the Carta Bella Paper 4 1/2 x 4 1/2, punched a 2 1/2  circle out of the top left.  The next layer is the pink floral cut 4 1/4 x 4 1/4, I layered the green on top of it and cut the 2 1/2 circle again.  I backed both of these with Kool Tac foam.
Before adding them to the front of the card, I stamped the bird onto the check white paper from the paper pad with Versamark and used brown embossing powder and heat set it.  I placed this behind the square layers with the circle punch.  Now it looks like a frame.  I tied pink ribbon around the  bottom of the card with a bow to the left and layered small circle punched pieces of paper stamped with Hello to the right.  I added white Dylusions.

Thank you for stopping in today.  See you next week.
