Let it Snow!

Hello Rubber Cafe' fans! It's Mary Ann here today with my first card as Guest Designer using the October Kit of the Month. This months' kit, Creative Christmas had me ooohing and ahhhing as soon as I opened my box. I love the pretty papers in 6x6 pad, The Story of Christmas by Echo Park. It's perfect to use for those upcoming Christmas cards!

For today's card, I used Christmas is Coming bonus stamp set that's exclusive to subscribers, but only during the month of October...make sure to get yours!!  It has the sweetest little snowman happily watching the snowflakes falling from the sky. I loved how his arms were outstretched, and that gave me the idea to have him throwing snowballs instead!  I even added an extra snowball to look like one had dropped to the ground.

As you can see, my card has a bit of a dimensional look to it that is so simple to do, but adds so much! After starting with the base of my card (kraft 5.5"x 5.5", woodgrain 5.25" x 5.25") and adding the green rectangle (5.5"x1.5") I stamped the cute snowman with black ink on a white square (2.75"x2.75") and colored him in with my markers.

Next, I layered the white square on to the woodgrain snowflake paper (3"x3"). Now comes the fun part!  I punched the "snowballs" from white cardstock using a regular ol' hole punch like you probably have in your desk drawer. To pop up the snowballs, I used 1/4" foam tape that I cut into tiny, tiny squares, and placed them directly over the stamped snow flakes, then added the snowballs. Oh, and don't forget to to add that extra snowball that he dropped!

Thanks so much for stopping by the Rubber Cafe' blog today, I can't wait to share another card with you again soon!
