Everyday is a Picnic

Hello TRC Fans!  Today I have a cut card to share with you using the June Creative Cafe' Kit - Home of The Red, White & Blue plus the add-on stamp set - Picnic Time.  I think this image and sentiment are just so cute!

I stamped the picnic basket image and colored it with my copic markers.  I die cut the image using the Rectangle Layering dies from Tonic Studios.  That set of dies includes the classic rectangle and the scalloped rectangles, too!  I stamped the sentiment onto white cardstock and punched it out with a handheld punch.  I added the sequins with my Scrap Happy Sheer Glue.  I added the stickers to the white cardstock layer and tied the twine into a knot.

Here is a closer look.

Festive Easel Shaker Card

Hi there!  Today I've got another fun card for you using the Creative Cafe' KOTM for July!

I've combined a shaker card and an easel card to creative this festive 4th of July card:

Base:  Start with an 8" by 4" piece of light blue cardstock and score at 4" and 2" to create the easel fold.

Front:  Cut a 4" square of dark blue swiss dot cardstock and glue this to front 2" flap of easel base using Scrap Happy Glue.

To create the shaker, cut a 3" square of light blue cardstock, and trim inside of frame out, leaving a quarter inch frame....you can do this with a craft knife and a ruler, or use your trimmer:

Cut a 3" square piece of acetate and glue the blue frame to it.

Next stamp girl stamp in Black Tuxedo Memento Ink and color with markers, then fussy cut out.  I also colored and cut out the flag on her shirt, and glued it on top to give it a little dimension.  Then I glued her to the bottom of the light blue frame behind the acetate "window".  Then I used foam tape to go around the frame.

To make the back, I used a 3&1/4" square piece of red swiss dot cardstock, and a 3" square piece of star vellum that I glued to the center.  Then I added some sequins to the frame, removed the foam tape backing, and added this back piece to the frame.

The shaker is glued to the center of the dark blue cardstock front panel.

Stamp the Happy Independence Day sentiment in Festive Berries Distress Ink on white cardstock, then trim to a banner and mat on dark blue swiss dot cardstock.  Glue to the top of the "window" using Scrap Happy Glue.  Add some of the blue and red twine to the top, and add a sequin star to the bow.

I used some of the spangles (the flowers, a star) and cut a mini flag from one of the patterned papers.

To make the bottom strip, I cut a 4" by 1" strip of fireworks patterned paper, and matted on a 4" by 1&1/2" piece of dark swiss blue cardstock.  I glued this to the base of the card, then added a firework burst stamped in Faded Jeans Distress Ink, another mini flag, and a few spangles.

Thanks for stoppin' by today!  Hope you are enjoying all the festive inspiration this month!!

Celebrate Shaker Card

I have been playing with the June Creative Cafe Kit of the Month from The Rubber Cafe' again!

This month's kit is called Home of the Red, White, and Blue and it is full of fun, festive, patriotic images, papers, and embellishments.  Today's card is my final one that I have to share with you this month!

Here is my latest creation...a fun Shaker card!

To make this card I started by creating an A2 card base by folding an 11" x 4 1/4" piece of red cardstock in half.

Then I adhered a light blue panel (5 1/4" x 4") to the front of the card with Scrap Happy Glue.

I added the patterned paper panel to the left side of the card with Scrap Happy Glue.

Then I added a panel of checkered paper to the front of the card with Scrap Happy Glue.

Then I added a strip of star paper to the card front.

The final strip is the Ant paper panel.

For the shaker panel I stamped the girl on a white die cut circle with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copic Markers.
I adhered the image panel to a blue scallop edge circle panel.
Then I glued a few sequins to the panel.

I cut a blue scallop edge circle the same size as the image panel one.
I die cut the center out of the panel.
I cut a larger circle panel out of plastic bag (that came in the kit) and adhered it to the panel.
I added 3D tape around the circle as shown.

I added some loose sequins on the image panel and then stuck the window panel over the top.

THen I added a few additional embellishments to complete the card.

I hope you enjoyed today's Creative Cafe' Kit card!

Thanks for stopping by!

Star Spangled Celebration

Hi everyone!  It's time to celebrate!  Time to celebrate this fun Creative Cafe' KOTM!!

Today I'm sharing a shaker card with celebration written all over it!

Base: 5&1/2" by 4&1/4" white cardstock.

First Layer: 5&1/4" by 4" piece of star vellum.

Next Layer:  Cut a 4" by 2&1/2" strip of large star pattered paper and mat on a 4" x 3" strip of blue and white star patterned paper.  Glue this piece about 1/4" from the left side of the card using Scrap Happy Glue.

To create the shaker:

Cut out red swiss dot cardstock circle about 4" width, use two sizes down to cut out center.  Cut out white swiss dot circle (about 3&3/4" size) and next size down to cut out center, then glue this to the inner edge of the red circle.  Last cut out the dark blue swiss dot circle (about 2&3/4" size--same as the inner circle used to cut the inside of the red circle), then use the next size down to cut out the center.

Next, Cut a 3&1/2" circle of white swiss dot, star vellum, and acetate.  Glue vellum to white swiss dot (thin line of glue around edge) and glue red and white frame from above step to acetate, then glue dark blue swiss dot circle to the center.

Use foam tape to build shaker.....I use two layers, around the back of the acetate, then add the spangles, and sequins to this frame, then add the backing piece.

Glue the finished shaker piece to the right side of the card.

Stamp USA patchwork in Faded Jeans Distress Ink and fussy cut out.  Stamp 3 firework bursts in Festive Berries Distress Ink, and punch out using a 1" circle punch (or fussy cut out).  Glue a red sequin in the center of 3 of the blue star sequins and then use a piece of foam tape to attach the star to the center of the firework bursts. Use foam tape and Scrap Happy Glue to attach these pieces to the card where shown.

Stamp sentiment in Festive Berries on white cardstock, trim to banner about 4&1/4" and mat on dark blue swiss dot cardstock.  Curl slightly with fingers, and add a double width of foam tape under the back of the banner, under the end of the word happy glue to card over the USA along the bottom of the shaker frame.

Glue flag behind the banner to finish the card.

Thanks for stoppin' by today.....hope you enjoyed this patriotic inspiration!

Let Freedom Ring!

Let there be FiReWoRkS!  Today's card for The Rubber Cafe is a fun one with the pets all dressed up for Independence Day!  All elements on this card are from the Home of the Red, White and Blue Creative Cafe Kit.

The card is based on the silver cardstock in the kit.  The red mat pops nicely.  The fireworks in the paper collection nicely mimic the stamps in the kit!  I stamped several of the fireworks with the Scrap Happy Sheer Glue onto a piece of acetate and then glittered it with Hanukkah Blue and Patriot Red You're So Fine Glitters. I cut the acetate fireworks out and then applied them to the card and then embellishing them with the sequins in the kit.  I also used another element from the paper collection for my America banner.  I covered up the year with Let Freedom Ring for this card.

As a final pop of fun, I cut out a heart element and added a few star gems as well.

Sweet Land of Liberty

Good morning.
I am here today to share another cute card I created using the
Home of Red, White & Blue Creative Cafe KOTM.

Start with a white A2 base.  Add a 4 x 5 1/4 stripped block to resemble a postage envelope.  Then add a 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 block of blue stars paper.  Cut a 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 block of lined paper.  Emboss the USA on it and on a scrap piece of paper.  Fussy cut the scrap USA.  Back it with foam and add to directly on top of the other USA.  I did take three different color pens and doodled around the edges of my card.  I had also stamped then embossed the sentiment in the top left corner.  With a glue dot, I added a acetate stamp to the top right.  The front of my card was to replicate the front of an envelope.  I then decided to wrap twine around like it was a package.

I hope you have been inspired.  You can go HERE to grab this Creative Cafe Kit.

Patriotic Round Top Box

Hello TRC Fans!  Today I have a cute party favor that I made using the supplies from the June Creative Cafe' Kit - Home of the Red, White & Blue!  Using a cut file for my digital cutter, I created this Round Top Box.  Now I know not everyone has a digital cutter so I found a PDF file (gotta love google)  that you can use to print this out on your computer and then cut it out with scissors.  You can print this directly onto the cardstock you are using or you can just print it out and use it as a pattern.

Round Top Box PDF

Here is my Patriotic Round Top Box.......

After making the box out of the dotted navy paper, I cut some of the patterned paper to fit the sides and the front.  I stamped the little girl image and colored her with my copic markers.  Then I die cut the image using some classic circle and scalloped circle dies.  The red and white cardstock stars were cut with my digital cutter.  I added the sequins from the kit and stamped the sentiment.

This is going to look so good on our picnic table at our annual 4th of July party this year!  I am going to make a bunch of these and will put some poppers and trinkets in it for the kids!  Hope you give this project a try!

It's BBQ Time!

Thanks for stopping by today! Stephanie here, featuring an invitation I created with the Home of the Red, White, and Blue kit! This month's kit is filled with patriotic, fun and festive, picnic themed papers and embellishments. It was a clean and simple card which is typically my style, but I really love the red bow to give it a pop of color!

I layered the silver with the cut apart from one of the paper pad sheets and added the last few elements!  I'm usually a layout maker, but cards are really fun, too!

I hope you enjoy today's card! Thanks for checking it out!

Let's Celebrate!

I have been having lot's more fun with the June Creative Cafe Kit of the Month from The Rubber Cafe'!

This month's kit is called Home of the Red, White, and Blue and it is full of fun, festive, Patriotic images, papers, and embellishments.  I think today's creation is my favorite of all the ones I've made with this months kit!

Here is my latest card...
At first glance this looks like just a regular A2 card (thought it's super cute)!
But most of you know that I love to use my Creative Cafe' Kit to play with some fun fold cards and this one is no exception!

Look what happens when you open it up!
How fun is that?!?

I saw this design on Pinterest and just had to give it a try.

I worked up these directions on my own.
Start with an 8 1/4" x 8 1/4" panel of cardstock for the inside of the card.
Score on the solid lines and cut on the dotted lines.

After scoring and cutting you should be able to fold the panel up and adhere to the inside of an A2 card (5 1/2" by 4 1/4")

Then you can decorate the panels with the adorable patterned paper from the Doodle Bug "Patriotic Picnic" paper pack that comes with this months kit.

Finally, I added the sentiments and images (colored with Copic Markers).

I hope you enjoyed today's Creative Cafe' Kit card!

Thanks for stopping by!

Independence Day Clean and Simple Style, and die-cutting with a twist!

It's the weekend again!  And today I have a very 'clean and simple' card to share.  I typically don't attempt 'clean and simple', but with this red, white & blue color pallet and the die-cutting techniques I wanted to feature seemed to work together really well.

I've used 3 different die-cutting techniques in this card - cutting an opening or window; using my die to create my card shape, and a fun technique that I've wanted to try for some time now that I'm calling 'die emboss'  first here's a look at my card -

I started with a top folding 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card in white.  I created the shape of my card, by using the largest of my nested flag dies - placing the top edge off the fold of the card and only cutting through the front layer I achieved the look I was going for.

Next I took my star nested dies, and using the smallest die- I cut a star in the upper center of the card front this second part is the fun technique where you leave an impression with your die without cutting through the all the way.  For my card I used the next size up in my nested stars, to frame around the diecut opening. This is easy to do by just setting up your diecut sandwich for embossing and not cutting replacing one cutting pad with an embossing rubber mat.  Here's a closeup.

For my inside I simply cut 3,  1/2" strips of paper using the 6x6 paper pad Patriotic Picnic from the kit and layered them in a row to fill in the star opening.  As you can see above.

Here's the inside view...  I also framed the strips in with 2 sentiments from the stamp set Let's Celebrate included in he kit.

I used more paper from the pad to cut the individual flags and adhered them to the red twine also in the kit.  I tied them in place to once side in a bow.

A banner cut label stamped 'Happy Independence Day' filled the lower half and I randomly adhered sequins down to finish my card.

I hope you'll give this die- embossing trick a try one thing that helps with your success is to use a heavier lb paper - the white in the kit feels like 110lb wt.  Water color paper works well with this technique too!

Life is a Picnic with Creative Cafe' KOTM!

Hello everyone!!  Aren't you loving the inspiration this month?!!  Another amazing Creative Cafe' KOTM!!

Today I'm sharing a cute little every day/occasion card with you:

Base:  5 & 1/2" by 4 & 1/4" sky blue cardstock.  Stamp sentiment in upper left corner using Black Tuxedo Memento Ink.

First Layer:  Cut a 4&1/4" by 2&1/2" piece of picnic patterned paper, and mat on a 4&1/4" by 3&1/4" piece of swiss dot dark blue cardstock.  Cut two 4&1/4" by 1&1/2" strips of silver mirror cardstock, and glue to back of the swiss dot dark blue of above piece using Scrap Happy Glue, leaving about 1/4" showing.

Cut ant patterned paper strips (one row of ants) and trim to 4&1/4" long.....add at the edge of the blue swiss dot.  Then wrap this piece with blue ribbon and tie a bow.  Glue this piece to card front using Scrap Happy Glue (about 1/4" below sentiment).

Next stamp the picnic basket on white cardstock in Black Tuxedo Memento Ink.  Color in with markers, and fussy cut out.  Mat onto a piece of white swiss dot cardstock (2&1/2" by 2&1/4") using foam tape, and then mat on dark blue swiss dot cardstock (2&3/4" by 2&1/2") using Scrap Happy Glue.

Add a few of the ants from the Doodlebug Sprinkles stickers for a cute accent around the picnic basket:
