Who couldn't use a little trip to a sunshine filled paradise? I know it's not in my immediate future....but I've got a taste of the tropics in this card created with the Fun in the Sun stamp set from The Rubber Cafe':
Base: 5&1/2" by 4&1/4" white cardstock
First Layer: 5&1/4" by 4" pink swiss dot cardstock--glue to base using Scrap Happy Glue.
Bottom strip: 1" by 4" strip of black cardstock. Stamp sentiment in Black Tuxedo Ink and trim to about 1/2" and foam tape to black strip. Add twine, glue to bottom of card base and add enamel dots.
Center Panel: Cut 2&3/4" circle out of white cardstock and use a sponge applicator to apply Salty Ocean distress ink to create sky. Cut 3&1/4" scallop circle out of black cardstock, and glue blue background to it using Scrap Happy Glue.
To create the flamingos, I first created a mask by stamping one and trimming it very close. Then I started stamping the group on a piece of plain white cardstock (it was about 3&1/2" by 4"). Here is a close up of my first stamped bird with a mask as I stamped over to place the second one:
I stamped a total of 5, then colored them in with markers, then cut them out first with a circle die (the same die used for the blue sky background):
Next I fussy cut around the tops, and carefully added some blue ink sponged in around their legs. I also stamped, colored in and fussy cut out two additional flamingos and foam taped them in to complete the group as you can see here:
Next I cut a circle frame using two of the circle dies to create a frame, and glue the flamingos to the back of , being careful to let the two foam taped flamingo's feet stay on the outside of the circle:
This piece was foam taped to the blue sky to complete the card.
