Get Your Holiday Craft On!

Hi everyone!  Do you always tell yourself....I'll make my cards, gift bags, etc......this year?  Now during the cold, snowy days of January (at least in most places--sure is here in the it's the perfect time to craft ahead and keep those crafting resolutions!   I've got some inspiration to get you started:

The best part is these quick and easy gift bags can be made up using scraps from just about any paper!  I used scraps from the Echo Park The Story of Christmas.

I used a plain white gift bag (mine is 7" wide) and started with a 5" by 6&1/2" base of of silver cardstock and glued that to the bottom of the bag using Scrap Happy Glue.  Next a 3" by 6&1/2" strip of the red winter swirl paper lined up with the silver already on the bag.

Then it's just about adding random left over strips until you get a pattern you like.....which makes it fun....usually no two bags will be alike.

For this bag, the top strip is 1&3/4" by 6&1/2" peppermint stripe, with a 1&1/4" strip of green/red lattice.  The bottom strip....same paper....2&3/4" by 6&1/2" of the peppermint, and a 2&1/4" strip of the lattice.  Before I attached the bottom strip....I wrapped it with seam binding ribbon, and tied a bow.  I added a stamped, colored and fussy cut Santa, tied on with jute twine.  The center strip is 1&1/4" kraft cardstock, with the 1" trimmed strip with the sentiment.  I glued it on using Scrap Happy Glue and added the pearls for a festive touch.

For this bag I decide to make a matching tag also...I used the same silver cardstock 3&1/4" by 2&1/2" and snipped the top corners to create a tag.  It's layered on top with 3/4" peppermint stripe and 1/2" lattice, and on the bottom 1&1/2" kraft cardstock, 1&1/4" red winter swirl, 3/4" peppermint stripe and 1/2" white cardstock with "hohoho...." stamped in Black Tuxedo Ink. Tie it up with the seam binding and jute and it's a perfect matched set.

So glad you could stop by today, and hope you are inspired to get that holiday crafting done early!  We have so many great holiday sets on sale at The Rubber Cafe' right now--including the one I used to create this set! Make sure to check it out!
