Kiss Me....I'm Irish!

Hello TRC Fans!  In our house, St. Patrick's Day is a real celebration!  I decorate the kitchen table and make an american feast of Corned Beef and Cabbage.   When I saw the Add-On stamp set - Feeling Lucky - I could almost picture this card in my mind!

This card measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2", which is an A2 size card.  I cut the green dot patterned paper to 4 x 5 1/4" and glued it to the Kraft cardstock base.  I stamped the shamrock using some green chalk ink onto white cardstock and then stamped the sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink all over the strip of white cardstock.  I punched out a circle from the Kraft cardstock and covered it with the gold foil washi tape included in the kit.  I stamped the sentiment and the lips onto some white cardstock and used a smaller circle punch to punch it out.  I layered the sentiment onto my washi covered circle.  I added seam binding and then using some 3d foam squares, I adhered the sentiment circle into place to complete this card.  Here is a close-up.

This was fun to create!   I am going to make a couple more of these cards to send to my 2 daughters that are away at college!  I think that will love this card!

Cheers!

Hello Rubber Cafe' fans!

Kristine here with a tall card full of good cheer!
I made this with the Feeling Lucky Stamp Set.

To create this card, I cut a 8 1/2 x 8" piece of cardstock that came with this months Rubber Caf'e Kit of the month.  I folded it in half to create a 8 1/2" x 4" card base.

I cut a 2" strip of patterned paper.
The strip was only 6" in length so I cut an additional strip 2" by 2 1/2".

I adhered them to the card with Scrap Happy Glue.

Then I "rubbed on" the Bo Bunny sticker so that it covered the part where the two pieces of patterned paper came together.

I created three identical image panels.
I stamped the beer glass with memento ink and colored with colored pencil.
Then I back it with a slightly larger yellow die cut circle and then the next size up scallop edge die of tan cardstock.
I adhered all three panels to the card.

The final step was to stamp "cheers!" on the card front with Memento Tuxedo Die Ink.

This size card fits perfectly in a business size envelope for mailing.

Beautiful Friend - Watercolor effect

Hi!! I'm Jessica Griffin, The Rubber Cafe's guest designer for the month of February! I'm so excited to be here today, sharing with you this card I created using the awesome new kit; Birds of a Feather.

I love playing with ink and creating backgrounds for my cards. To create this background I scribbled with four of my Neocolor Crayons onto white card stock. After I was satisfied with the color, I used a wet paintbrush to blend the colors together and create a 'painted' background.

I set the background aside to dry and began stamping the focal point, the flower and the sentiment. I love creating flags out of sentiments, they're super easy to cut, and they look really cute with just about anything.

Fly and Be Free

Hi everyone!  Today I've got a fun encouragement card to share using the Birds of a Feather stamp set from this month's Creative Cafe KOTM:

Base: 5&1/2" by 4&1/4" kraft cardstock.

First Layer:  4&1/2" by 4&1/4" piece of wood grain patterned paper.  Glue about 3/4" from the left edge of the base card.  Apply film strip rub-on to the left side of card (HINT:  leave the backing on the rub-on, trim off what you want, then remove backing, and apply the piece you need to the card and rub on).

Next Layer:  Cut a 4&1/4" by 3/4" piece of white cardstock.  Glue a piece of seam binding around it, and add a bow.  Glue to left side of wood grain patterned paper.

Center Panel:  Cut a 2&3/4" by 3&1/4" piece of newsprint word paper, and mat on a 3" by 3&1/2" piece of white cardstock.  Foam tape to card front.

Stamp sentiments on white cardstock using Black Tuxedo Memento Ink, punch out circles (3/4" and 1"), add doodling to circles if desired.

Stamp clouds using Weathered Wood Distress Ink, fussy cut out.

Use camera and film strip rub-ons on white cardstock and trim down (camera piece is approx. 1&1/2" by 1&1/4", banner is approx. 11/16" wide by 1&1/2" long). Glue all pieces to card front as shown using Scrap Happy Glue.  Foam tape "be free" and "xoxo" circles.

Thanks for stoppin' by today....hope you are enjoying this month's kit inspiration!

Be Free - homemade background paper

I had so much fun playing with the The Rubber Cafe Creative Cafe Kit  called Follow Your Dreams!
I used the Birds of a Feather set again...this time I created my own background paper by randomly stamping the solid feathers stamped in Versafine Black Ink onto the pink designer paper found in the BoBunny paper pad included in the kit.
Once I was done stamping the feathers, I ran the paper through my Xyron machine and applied You're So Fine Diamond Clear Cool Highlight Glitter.  After a quick burnishing with my fingers, this card SHINES!

The card base is black cardstock from my stash measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches.  The pink designer paper measures 4 x 5 1/4 inches.   After attaching these two layers, I tied a bow with the pink ribbon in the kit before attaching the card base to an A2 folded white card.

The white layer measures 2 1/4 x 4 3/4 inches.  The black mat measures 2 1/8 x 4 5/8 inches.  The designer paper layer measures 4 3/8 x 2 inches.  I stamped this panel as shown and then ran it through the Xyron machine and applied glitter.  The white panel is popped up on foam tape over the ribbon.

Beautiful - flower stacking

Good Morning.  We have been sharing our February Creative Cafe Kits - Follow your Dreams,  for a few weeks now.  Aren't the stamps awesome?  There is so much you can do with them.  The Bo Bunny papers that are included are just bright and beautiful too.  Lets take a look at how I started my card.

My card base is a little large than I normally make them. I cut the green cardstock on the long at 6 inches.  Leaving the width 4 1/4.
Next, I layered the floral paper slightly smaller on top.
Added the rub-on to the left and the remaining goes on the green banner.
I then cut a 3x3 pink heart and a 3 x 1 1/2 pink heart, backed with foam and applied as shown.
I stamped the banner stamp across the top of the pink as you see in the picture.
I cut and layered the banners on the top left, backing the green with foam and tied ribbon around as you see.

I stamped the floral stamp on several papers.  Then randomly cut them from different papers.  I attempted to follow the lines on the inner part of the flower to get smaller flowers.  Some backed with foam and others applied flat.  None of the flowers were the exact same when I was done.  You can see from the photo below.  Also, you can see that I changed one of the banner papers before I was done!

Can you see in this photo that I brushed the flowers with Wink of Stella?  It really does make the papers glittery and beautiful.

I also used the feathers from the Birds of a Feather Set, included in your kit to get the leaves for the flowers.

Lets take another look at the completed card.

See you again really soon.

Picture Perfect - How to use rub-ons with video tutorial

Hello TRC Fans!  Hope you are having a great day so far.  Today I want to share with you a card I created using the rub-ons, stamps and paper included in this month's Creative Cafe' Kit - Follow Your Dreams.  I even created a short video showing you the process.  Here is my card....

To create this card, cut the kraft cardstock to 5 1/4 x 10 1/2" and fold it at 5 1/4".  Cut a piece of the woodgrain patterned paper to 5 x 5".  Cut a piece of the white cardstock to 4 1/2 x 4 1/2".  Add the rub-ons (I show you how in my video).  Stamp the banner (Birds of a Feather set)  in the upper right hand corner then stamp the sentiment from the Birds of a Feather stamp set and stamp the lips from the Feeling Lucky add-on set in red over the sentiment.  Then die cut this using a heart-shaped die.

Here is a video showing you the whole process......

Here is a closer look at my card.....

I hope I have given you some ideas on how to use those cute rub-ons included in your Creative Cafe' Kit - Follow Your Dreams.  The whole kit is so much fun!

Wild Washi

Hello Rubber Cafe' Fans!

I am so excited to share some fun cards that I made with this month's Creative Cafe' Card Kit and the add on stamp set, Feeling Lucky.

Here they are!!!

That amazing gold chevron Washi Tape on both of the cards comes with this month's Creative Cafe' Card Kit,  I thought it would be fun to share some great ways to incorporate washi tape on your projects.

For the "Cheers" card I started by adhering a strip of Queen & Co. Washi Tape diagonally across a 4" x 5 1/4" white panel of cardstock.  Then I added one of the stips of Rub on stickers from the kit above the washie and I stamped the sentiment below the washi tape with Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink.

I continued to alternate washi tape and rub-on strips until the panel looked like this.

I adhered the panel to a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" piec of green patterned paper with Scrap Happy Glue and then adhered it to a beige card base that measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

The final step is to stamp the beer glass on a white scrap and color with colored pencils.
Then cut it out and adhere to the card with a 3D foam square.

For the other card I started with a 4" x 5 1/4" panel of white cardstock and added the strips of Washi Tape.

I stamped the sentiments and lips with colored ink that I had in my stash.

Then I stamped the leprechaun on a white die cut oval panel and colored it with colored pencils.
I backed the oval with a yellow die cut panel and then a green scallop edge oval and adhered it to the card with Scrap Happy Glue.

I hope this post gave you some fun ideas to try with your washi tape.
I just love how these turned out!

Vintage Gorgeous

Woohoo!!!!  The new kits are here!  What a fun, on trend kit this month!
It's called Follow Your Dreams, and it inspired this vintage, distressed card:

First Layer:  5&1/2" by 4&1/4" pink cardstock base.

Next Layer:  5&1/4" by 4" piece of newsprint patterned paper.  Rough up the edges using a scissors or distress tool, then ink using a bit of black ink (I used Black Soot Distress Ink).  Cut the black swirl rub on into 2 pieces, and rub on to top right and bottom left corners.  Glue to base using Scrap Happy Glue.

Next take a 3" by 4" piece of white cardstock, and sponge it all over using Spun Silk Distress Ink.  Then stamp randomly with feather stamp using Memento Black Tuxedo Ink.

TIP:  To create a softer look.....I covered the feather stamp with ink, then "stamped off" on a piece of scrap paper, then stamped the image on my soft inked pink background (say that 5 times fast....haha!).  The direct stamping gave too harsh of a look, when I wanted something that looked more worn in and vintage.  You can see the difference here:

The feather piece is matted to a 3&1/4" by 4&1/4" piece of dark blue swiss dot cardstock, then foam taped to the center of the card.

Then stamp 2 feathers onto white cardstock, and fussy cut them out.  Brush with a little Spun Silk ink, then apply a very thin layer of Glossy Accents.  (This step isn't necessary, but I thought it gave the feathers a little "pop" and made them different from the background).

Punch out a 1&1/4" white cardstock circle, stamp sentiment, and brush with a bit of Spun Silk ink and then the edges with some Black Soot ink.  Punch a 1&1/2" circle of newsprint paper and use as a mat for the sentiment piece.

Cut a 1" by 3" strip of dark blue swiss dot cardstock, and tie with pink seam binding ribbon.  Glue to center panel of card.  Foam tape sentiment and fussy cut feathers to the right side on the dark blue strip.

Thanks for stoppin' by today!  Wait until you see what the team has for you this month!

Hello Gorgeous!

I had much fun playing with the The Rubber Cafe Creative Cafe Kit  called Follow Your Dreams!
I used the Birds of a Feather set again...this time turning the feathers into leaves by stamping them on the green cardstock included in the kit with Stazon black ink!  Cut off the "stem" of the feather and you have yourself a dandy leaf!
The roses I stamped onto the pink designer paper included in the Bo Bunny paper pad that is in the kit.  I fussy cut the roses and then applied Scrap Happy Sheer Glue to the roses and then You're So Fine Diamond Clear Cool Highlight Glitter to them.  As you can see here, I applied foam tape to every other rose to give my wreath dimension.
I left the design of this card simple so that the wreath could pop.  I layered some of the Bo Bunny Gold Foil Chevron Washi tape to a 4 1/4 x 3/4 inch strip of the kraft cardstock for a faux ribbon element.  The sentiment is stamped on a 1 5/8 x 1 1/8 piece of white cardstock.  The shadow stamp is stamped off once so the color is a bit lighter.

The base layer is a kraft 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches , the green designer paper is 4 x 5 1/4 inches.  I arranged the wreath and sentiments as shown.  The completed card panel is attached to a folded white A2 card.
